genghisdon: ouch
Smon: rainy
Goonergeezer: a bit like ogres but intelligent
chris107: 5 HD Ouch!
chris107: Been a beautiful day in Yorkshire (for a change)
Goonergeezer: there are not too many, they are the product of a specialist breeding programme
chris107: Remind me to avoid the Uruks if we ever get to play GG
genghisdon: yesturday was awesome (still here) but now the chill has moved in
chris107: Winter is upon us again
chris107: (I guess breeding with Orcs is a bit of a specialist market anyway?)
chris107: Are you any where near Swansea Gooner?
Goonergeezer: its not too far from me, about 30 mins by train
Smon: ok, settling in now
chris107: I met some old friends at a wedding who I havent seen for 15 years. They've invited me down to stay some time.
chris107: They live near Swansea. maybe we could grab a beer..
Smon: Last session was a rainy day in-game, 23/9/96. We finished with you relaxing at Dame Lysana's. Lysana:Lysana: "The Abbey of the Black Monks is famed hereabouts as a place of evil power, and its ruins have a commanding view over the locality. Hence my suspicion that Odric may lair there... but I do not know."
Goonergeezer: yea i would be up for that :-)
chris107: @ Simon - Sweetrede will learn the same spells as last time.
chris107: (
)
Smon: Morgana: "which way & what terrain?" GM: Lysana explains that the ruins lie on the western edge of a bluff overlooking heathlands to the NE of her estate.
Smon: Map: https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjCeUC58hCydTu0XZ6jCBbshIRm-prYBsA_NYsLAJq499sqiz22MEVML66B4BcHvfcNuNqKXGEwTgA3KbtukwIOmVGyg5JbbkYs1IEyCtNTnYKUkcvHA-5FdiOxtP5NsLey2K6RvSiaMhe/s1600/Herdley.bmp
chris107: @ everyone - I'm roasting a joint & some tatties so will have to keep popping off to baste..
genghisdon: (lets go kick some cleric ass)
Smon: It's about 5 miles away.
Smon: Are you resting overnight & heading out next day?
Goonergeezer: (shouldnt we try and deal with the bugbears on croak hill first?
Smon: Are you heading for Croak Hill first?
chris107: Grrrr! That is so anoying. Everytime I look at a link it brakes my connection
chris107: Am I back?
genghisdon: it was noonish right?
Smon: You have some crappy Internet Chris
Goonergeezer: you are
Smon: Afternoon now
genghisdon: yes, u are here chris
chris107: Bloody machine!
Smon: Raining heavily, occasional lightning/thunder
genghisdon: lets go now, Morg votes
genghisdon: ok then, we wait
genghisdon: or use it as cover for our noisy armor?
chris107: (Now you tell me
)
chris107: (About the thunder & lightning)
Goonergeezer: (use the noise for cover, after all we do have 9 men at arms too)
Smon: 8 men currently, 2 went back to the castle
genghisdon: (time for CALL LIGHTNING!)
Smon: All 3 PCs are at Lysana's manor, though Sweetrede didn't go in the bath pool
Smon: So are you all heading for the ruined abbey this rainy afternoon?
chris107: (I said earlier I was taking same spells as last time Don, forgot to ask about the weather
)
genghisdon: (do we leave the men here as a cover? sneak off in a storm kike crazy people? M is starting to like that plan
chris107: Sweetrede says yes
genghisdon: (gooner, take the men ? be aware they have morale scores, unlike us)
atherton Has entered the room
chris107: Hey Ath
atherton: greetings fellow gentle orcs
Goonergeezer: (i say take the men, but i think we need to avoid the temp,le at the mo, it could cause no end of trouble with countess Varuna)
genghisdon: hi atherton, how are you?
Smon: hi ath
chris107: @ Gooner - Countess varuna's a baddy?)
genghisdon: what? temple of the evil cleric? or am i mixed up?
atherton: good thanks Don, and how are the 10x10' stone flagged corridors of Castle Greyhawk?
genghisdon: no idea, i never got there yet
Goonergeezer: (or at least find out what varuna minds if we kill the evil cleric abbey, she seemed friendly towards them
genghisdon: (??? fuck that, kill now)
chris107: (Is this something I missed last week?)
genghisdon: (or capture, at least)
genghisdon: (don't worry, I always do too)
Goonergeezer: (if we go there, we cannot leave any witnesses behind)
genghisdon: M" where are we off to then Garrick?"
chris107: 'Shrugs'
Goonergeezer: (reguardless of who is there we have to kill everyone)
chris107: (You're determined to be NE Gooner
)
genghisdon: (i don't think that is EVER the case, but lead on)
chris107: (We only ever follow Sir Garriks orders)
atherton Has exited the room
Smon: OK, what is good Sir Garrick commanding?
genghisdon: (lately, as i never what is going on, yes)
chris107: (Sir Garrik The Strangler?
)
Goonergeezer: (we go to the temple, i am just worried that it could cause offence with varuna)
chris107: (Time to baste, two minutes)
genghisdon: (why? simon, what am i missing?)
chris107: (Youre worried about causing her offence? You tried to bloody strangle her a couple of weeks ago!
)
Smon: By temple you mean the ruined abbey of the black monks where the Anti-Cleric is rumoured to lair, Gooner?
Goonergeezer: (varuna was friendly with the evil priest and co, i just want us to be careful)
Goonergeezer: (not get caught/blamed)
Goonergeezer: (or killed)
Smon: >>(varuna was friendly with the evil priest and co<< I'm not sure why you think that - it was Varuna who first warned you about him AIR.
genghisdon: M "OK, lets set out"
Goonergeezer: (yea i mena the abbey)
Goonergeezer: (ok i have my memories a bit confused, very sorry :-( lead on the the abbey then)
chris107: SR Lets go
genghisdon: "to the abbey we shall travel, and neither rain, nor sleet, nor hail shall halt us"
Smon: GM: OK, you leave the bath dress in warm clothes, then drag the soldiers out of the nice warm manor kitchen where they're being fed by Lysana's servants, to much grumbling.
chris107: @ Simon - Any tangled undergroth on the way, SR will keep to
genghisdon: (not sure fucking them over is wise, but they are yours gooner)
Smon: Out in the courtyard your horses are brought out, the rain still pouring down hard. The sky is lead-grey.
You have received a private message. If it does not open in a new window automatically, [Click Here]
genghisdon: "a day for dark deeds"
chris107: (And call lightning
)
genghisdon: lol
genghisdon: (notice I didn't say it might not halt us)
Smon: The stablehand gives direction to the ruined abbey, five miles east over the moors...
genghisdon: (perfect, moors in rain)
Goonergeezer: Garrick @ men at arms " Lads after this i promiase you all, a good night out for all is on me
chris107: In Elvis to M "Those who survive..."
chris107: Elvish
genghisdon: "i was thinking that very thought"
chris107: (I live on the rainy moors!)
genghisdon: (pooe sod)
genghisdon: poor
chris107:
Smon: GM: You ride out, following directions. The first couple miles you can follow an east-running track and make good time, but when it turns south towards Cowbry you have to head off it onto the open heathland, the cliffs of the Black Monks' crag just visible in the distance through the downpour.
Smon: /roll 1d10
Smon rolls 1d10 and gets:
5,
Smon: Your horses make slow time in the rain across ground that has quickly turned boggy, and night is falling by the time you see the ruined abbey ahead, silhouetted against the dusky sky.
Smon: /roll 1d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets:
6,
chris107: SR - Lets dismount, leave the beasts here. Its not fair on them
Smon: There's no sign of life, but a narrow track leads up the cliffs and crags to the abbey at the top of the bluff.
genghisdon: M "agreed, but is it safe to leave them leashed here?"
Goonergeezer: (is there anywhere out of the full force of the storm where we can leave the horses?)
Smon: GM: Think Weathertop or the ruins in Holy Diver video.
genghisdon: (cool)
Smon: There's not much wind; close in to the crags gives some shelter from the rain.
chris107: SR - Leave them in the care of a couple of the men - In Elvish "I will calm the beasts."
Goonergeezer: garrick@ Sgt Trask "we will dismount and go on foot from heree, assign 2 men to stay with the horses"
genghisdon: M "good call"
Smon: Several men look up at the ruins and swiftly volunteer to mind the horses.
chris107: SR Casts speak with horses
chris107: Haha
Smon: OK, SR can speak with the horses, who are damp but stoical.
chris107: @ Horses "Stay with these two legs. Unless danger threatens then head home swift ones, wait for me while you dare"
Smon: The horses neigh and agree happily enough.
genghisdon: brb
chris107: (Got to do my Druidy duty)
Smon: Trask assigns two men to guard duty on the horses.
Smon: You three and the six soldiers head up the track?
chris107: SR keeping to any overgrown patches
chris107: Yes
Smon: There's very little undergrowth, just patches of moss and a little grass here and there.
chris107: @ Garrik - "Do you want me to scout ahead?"
Smon: You head up the cliff path...
chris107: (Just like been at home Simon
)
Goonergeezer: garrick: yes sr that would be helpful, but please be careful
Smon: Morganna's hawk perches on her shoulder.
chris107: SR will slope off ahead keeping a weather eye out...
Smon: /roll 1d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets:
1,
chris107: (And his 12" running pumps on)
Smon: Sweetrede moves ahead of the others up the track. Near the top, he smells woodsmoke.
Smon: Then he hears a muttered voice. "Damn rain! Reckon it'll keep on till morning, now..."
chris107: Crawling on his unarmoured belly he will get closer..
chris107: Keeping to the darkness
genghisdon: i leave lightning behind, poor thing
genghisdon: unless its too late to
Smon: Sweetrede crawls in the muddy ground, soon topping the rise. Ahead he sees an archway through the ruined abbey's curtain wall, and just beyond a campfire set under an overhang formed by a partly collapsed stone floor of a building just inside. Several dark figures are crouched around the wood fire.
chris107: (I left Call Lightning behind Grrrr)
chris107: Humanoid?
genghisdon: (it's stormy, right?)
Smon: Definitely humanoid.
chris107: (Yup)
Smon: Rainy, lightning every half hour or so
chris107: And speaking common?
Smon: Very heavy rain
chris107: Can I make out any other conversation? Names etc..
Smon: "Gath, reckon we should do a circuit?" "Naw, who'd be about on a shit-night like this?"
genghisdon: I don't think that's flying weather for a small hawk, lightning either is at he dame's estate or with the horses
Smon: "Yeah, but the Master wants us guardin'..." "No use goin' out there, it'd wet yer bow-string!"
Smon: (ok Lightning stays w horses)
genghisdon: (that;s left unstrung as well)
chris107: SR listens for a few moments more then slithers away to make his report.
Smon: Sweetrede slithers back down the trail to the others.
genghisdon: M "well, fine scout?"
Goonergeezer: garrick: did you see how many ?
chris107: SR Quietly at others - Several men, they talk of guarding a 'Master', they have bows."
genghisdon: "several as in 6? 4? 12?"
chris107: (Got to take the pork out, 2 minutes)
chris107: 7ish
genghisdon: ok
genghisdon: perfect
Smon: gonna have dinner in a few mins
Goonergeezer: garrick@ sr "is there any cover for us to get up there unnoticed and do you think we could set an ambush for them?"
genghisdon: "think I can get within sight of them without being seen myself? I've got great eyes"
genghisdon: "sleep spell garrick, once the sentries are down, armored movement inside won't be a problem with no warning sounded...no chances here"
genghisdon: "they it will be all blade work"
genghisdon: then
Smon: GM: It didn't look like you could pass the arch in the curtain wall without being seen by the men at the camp.
Smon: brb 20 mins
genghisdon: ok
Goonergeezer: garrick @ morg "ok babes, you go and give it your best, i will be ready to come on your word"
genghisdon: hmm, I can win the initiative, but that;s less automatic"
genghisdon: "come right behind me all the way"
genghisdon: and pause i guess
chris107: back
Goonergeezer: @m if we try to time our movement up there with the thunder it might help us armoured people a bit"
genghisdon: simon is gone for 20
genghisdon: absolutely, I figured we could get the drop on them
chris107: SR will lurk behind ready with his spells, keeping close to rocks for cover
chris107: Ah okay
chris107: Cant believe I could have blasted them all!
genghisdon: but since simon says we probably can't spell them from out of sight, maybe we should just fight & save the sleep in case there are many more men...thoughts?"
genghisdon: (yep)
chris107: Yes keep the sleep
genghisdon: (kinda cheating noew though...but u might wanna take that spell when we are outdoors chris)
chris107: 7 shouldnt be too tough for us to deal with
genghisdon: keep it? ok, but it could prevent any warning...gooner, your thoughts?
chris107: I did the first week but then the weather improved. Didn't ask today!
Goonergeezer: (i would prefer to save the sleep until we get further into the abbey, but its your choice, if we do screw this up and they get a warning out we could always make a run for it )
chris107: (The pork smells so good, got to go nibble a bit, be right back)
Goonergeezer: (i dont fancy trying to do this place if they are ready for us)
genghisdon: we save it then; don is very tired & possibly of suspect judgement today
genghisdon: heh, enjoy chris
Goonergeezer: how about trying to trick them?
Goonergeezer: (if i were to go in with a prisoner for a bit of fun on a cold night.....)
genghisdon: we need to ditch our surcoats...hell we should tell simon that already, for your secrecy (parinoia)
genghisdon: we can try that if you wish...an elf probably stands out
chris107: Sorry greed fest over, but who can resist eating the crackling of fresh roasted pork?
genghisdon: nobody...or maybe certain religous fools
chris107: mmmm
Goonergeezer: (just an idea, the final decision is down to you as you are the prisoner)
chris107: So what are our plans?
genghisdon: has you net cut out again?
genghisdon Has exited the room
genghisdon Has entered the room
genghisdon: if we fail to drop them fast & a horde comes we run
genghisdon: OR i fake I'm a prisoner gooner is thinking
genghisdon: & u 2 are brigands (but they don't know u, nor do we look the part i suspect)
chris107: ITo do what? Get close? Won't they just send some one off?
genghisdon: yeah, lets charge in
chris107: Hey! I'm no brigand!
genghisdon: lol
chris107: I'm a wise man...
Goonergeezer: (ok brigands is out, its charge in then and hope we can get them all down before any run off)
genghisdon: so u guys are sure we can take down 6 men before they manage to sound a warning? even with the storm?
chris107: I understand taking them out fast, don't want them getting their chums. Can we work our way and surround them?
chris107: I should be able to charm one
genghisdon: didn't sound like it, but ask simon when he is back
genghisdon: i think they are like in the archway
chris107: get us some idea who we're up against
genghisdon: yeah, good call...i wasted my charm on a nervous merchant last week/this morning
genghisdon: we attack, you charm?
chris107: It's half a plan, we need to stop them retreating. A weak feigned attack, retreat then jump them? Or a lone elf maid struggling in out of the weather alone, surprise, outrage, shocked squeal and run away?
chris107: Followed by randy brigands
genghisdon: souns good, but I need to ditch my plate for that to fly, methinks
chris107: Into waiting blood thirsty Sir Garrik and his charming friends
genghisdon: if i ditch the armor I can just sneak up on them 1-4
chris107: Yup, show a bit of elfy ass as you wiggle away
genghisdon: sounds pretty good actually
chris107: Lure them out the lusty old goats.
genghisdon: yes...you seem determined to get me killed today, but it should work
chris107: We lurk in the dark to pounce
genghisdon: yep
chris107: (Hell I'm AC10 all the time
)
genghisdon: (we need to get u some leather)
chris107: Nah, not very 'Wise Man'
genghisdon: (I'd give u mine, but it's not likely a fit)
chris107: I like the idea of playing a nature wizard
genghisdon: yeah, and 2 places of AC isn't that big a sacrafice
chris107: But it wouldn't look the part. I'm an aethetic player Don
genghisdon: I'd actually like to use light armor, but have no HP & will just die
chris107: aesthetic
chris107: And I've seen the miniature I want for SR too
genghisdon: cool
chris107: So no leather armour
chris107: Just going to top up the G&T
chris107: back
genghisdon: ok
Smon: back
Goonergeezer: wb
chris107: All ready then
genghisdon: cool, which plan?
Goonergeezer: garrick in hushed tones to all men " take off your tabards and anything that can identify yours4elves, and you take them down to the horses" garrick points at one of the men at arms
chris107: @ Simon - we have a plan
genghisdon: alrighty, m dirtches her armor as well
chris107: The naked Morganna one?
genghisdon: leaves her obvious weapons
genghisdon: yeah, although i keep my +1 dagger stashed
chris107: 'Swoon a lot M and let it all hang out'
genghisdon: that's the plan
chris107: @ Simon (If I may gents?)
Smon: GM: So another soldier collects the tabards and heads down the crags, leaving you with 5
genghisdon: (=go for it chris)
chris107: The Plan - We take hiding places in the rocks close to the path
chris107: A swooning and scantily clad M, dripping wet of course
chris107: swoons into the fire light
chris107: "Gasp"
chris107: "Oh no! You ruffians, I fear for my virtue!
chris107: She slips artfully splashing mud onto her shaply elven ass and tries to run
chris107: (Hopefully the now hetrosexual brigands are up and after her)
chris107: She splashes daintily away (to where we lurk menacingly)
chris107: As the y pass we fall upon their lustful hides...
chris107: That's about it I think.
genghisdon: and morganna does just that
chris107: Plan B, they catch M and as they get ready to get on board we pounce
chris107: Plan B is bad
Smon: GM: OK, you head up the track to just below the lip of the clifftop, where most of you hide amidst the rocks while scantily-clad Morganna goes on.
genghisdon: (plan be M casts sleep on them)
genghisdon: B
chris107: (Your nervouse M, that's understandable, trust uncle SR)
genghisdon: (no, it's a good plan)
Smon: The high stone curtain wall of the abbey looms above her. A narrow track leads round to the right between the wall and the clifftop, while ahead an open archway leads into the grounds of the abbey. Morganna sees the campfire through the archway, six men clustered around it beneath a stone overhang.
Smon: /roll 1d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets:
3,
Smon: They've not seen her yet.
genghisdon: M walks drunkenly into view, feinds surprise & shock at seeing them
chris107: (SR thought he'd seen 7 watch out for lurkers M)
genghisdon: basicly as chris outlined
Smon: The men look up in surprise. "Wassis den? One o da girls?!"
genghisdon: "oh no!"
genghisdon: M "slips"
Smon: Several men rise to their feet. "Oi, you! C'mere!"
genghisdon: "Oh, I must get away" M wiggles clumslily away
Smon: Make a d20 CHA check, +4 bonus to your CHA
Smon: roll under
chris107: (Loving the elven babe voice Don
)
genghisdon rolls 1d20 and gets:
10,
genghisdon: 7 under
chris107: The lusty brutes will be after her on that!
Smon: The men give chase, running through the archway after Morganna, who clumsily tries to run back down the track. As the men after her pass the lip of the cliff, the rest of you in hiding rise up around them, gaining surprise.
genghisdon: (hopefully)
genghisdon: M gets less clumsy if they gain too much!
Smon: Say 2 of you per target, if both miss the target has a chance to get away etc next round
chris107: SR will hold back, trying to get in between the men and the building.
genghisdon: "oh, I can't loose my elven maidenhood to human men!'
chris107: Ready with his Charm spell
chris107: (HaHa!)
Smon: Garrick and 5 men can go for 1 target each?
genghisdon: oops. already there
genghisdon: go get them gooner
Goonergeezer: (yep 1 each)
Smon: are you attacking to kill?
chris107: Fighters do your stuff!
Smon: back attack so +2 to hit, AC 7
Goonergeezer: (yes)
Goonergeezer rolls 1d20+3 and gets:
9, (+3) = 12
Goonergeezer: that a miss from garrick
chris107: SR keeps an eye on the combat looking for unwounded ones
Goonergeezer: sorry no a hit
Smon: hit yup
Goonergeezer rolls 1d8+6 and gets:
3, (+6) = 9
Smon: kills him, he had 4 hp
Goonergeezer: (shall we roll for the men at arms?)
genghisdon: (damn gooner, one alive for info was a good idea! NE!!!)
Smon: roll 5 more, 4 need 11 to hit, Trask needs 9 as F3
Goonergeezer rolls 1d20+2 and gets:

genghisdon: damn!
Goonergeezer rolls 1d20+2 and gets:
14, (+2) = 16
Smon: 13 to hit including +2 on roll
Goonergeezer: (anyone else wanna roll?)
Goonergeezer rolls 1d8 and gets:
8,
chris107: Youre doing okay!
Goonergeezer rolls 1d8 and gets:
2,
Goonergeezer rolls 1d20+2 and gets:
4, (+2) = 6
Goonergeezer rolls 1d20+2 and gets:
18, (+2) = 20
genghisdon: nope, you are on & i'll roll later I'm sure
Goonergeezer rolls 1d8 and gets:
4,
Goonergeezer: finally trask
Goonergeezer rolls 1d20+2 and gets:
10, (+2) = 12
Goonergeezer rolls 1d8 and gets:
1,
Goonergeezer: (you got all of them simon?)
Goonergeezer: (think i might of done 1 too many)
chris107: SR prepares to charm an unwounded one if they flee
genghisdon: ok simon? initiative for gooner & his men?
Smon: ok, the d20s mixed in randomly w d8s is really hard to read :C]
Goonergeezer: (sorry 4 hits including trask 8,2,4 and 1 dam)
Goonergeezer: (trask did the 1 dam)
Smon: 2nd last was F2 Cpl Olger, he missed?
Goonergeezer: olger did a 4 dam
Smon: 4+2=6, ok, he kills. 1 target is missed, 1 is only wounded, the other 4 are killed.
Smon: Sweetrede has moved round behind them to block their escape back into the Abbey.
Smon: init
Smon: /roll 1d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets:

Goonergeezer rolls 1d6 and gets:

genghisdon: ok
genghisdon rolls 1d20+1 and gets:
15, (+1) = 16
genghisdon rolls 1d4+4 and gets:
1, (+4) = 5
Smon: Garrick cuts a man down, Morganna you stab the last man?
genghisdon: not the last, he is for Swetreded, sorry, ignore rolls
Smon: You could bonk him on the head w subdual dmg
chris107: Charm is more subtle
Smon: Sweetrede casts charm?
genghisdon: that's ok, roll save vs our druid friend
genghisdon: (oops)
chris107: Yes
Smon: /roll 1d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets:

genghisdon: "take it easy, I'm not going to hurt you"
Smon rolls 1d100 and gets:

genghisdon: (mine is +5, but chris is +15 or more)
chris107: +15%
Smon: ok, the man raises his hands. "I surrender!" he squawks.
Smon: He is a rather ratty, runty looking fellow.
chris107: "That's okay, you're safe now."
genghisdon: (is the fight over?)
chris107: @ M - " Come look after this poor boy, show him he's safe."
Smon: The soldiers grimly wipe blood from their blades. Lightning crackles and thunder rolls nearby.
Smon: Fight seems over, five men in ringmail lie dead or dying, only one even drew his blade.
genghisdon: "I think he's better with you, I'm going to start getting my armor back on, ok?'
genghisdon: "poor bastards"
Goonergeezer: garrick@ men lets get these bodies back to their fire and place them so everything looks normal]
genghisdon: brb (pump some info for us chris)
chris107: SR consoles the boy and gently asks about his friends
Smon: The men start hauling bodies through the archway. Inside the curtain wall the abbey is a maze of tumbled ruins. You can see dim light from a large central building that seems intact.
chris107: Were you alone here with the Master or were more of your friends about?
Smon: The captive looks miserable. "More, lots more... dozens, like. Us above, the bully-bears below..."
chris107: Above? Below? The Bully-bears, are they large hairy goblin like creatures?
Smon: "Black Ben and Harry are here, an' Retcher with his magic quarrels. Ash is up north gettin' the slaves to market..."
chris107: And the master? Where would we find him?
Smon: "The Bully-Bears iz large an hairy, gobbo like, that's right."
chris107: (Do these names ring bells guys?)
Smon: (prob not)
chris107: @ boy - Is Retcher one of these poor unfortunates?
chris107: Points to corpses.
Smon: The ratty bandit shakes his head. "Naw, he's the boss of our squad, but he don't like the rain."
Smon: "He's inside with the girls, I'd bet."
genghisdon: (they have camp followers, i figured lots from that reaction)
chris107: And where will we find these bosses? Can you take us? (Do we want to go?)
genghisdon: "yes, lets do some damage then fall =back)
Goonergeezer: g @ sr do you think your friens could lure them outside?
chris107: (Yeah I got the 'it's one of the girls too Don)
chris107: SR looks around, any patches of undergroth?
chris107: (Suitable for Entangle)
genghisdon: M in elven "give him a deal Sweetrede, so he isn't conflicted in loyalty"
chris107: SR @ Boy, You can have lots of treasure and girls if you help me
genghisdon: "he likes you, but he may like his comrades too, and not want to turn on them without some incentives or promises or ego stroking"
Smon: Outside the curtain wall a few bushes and stunted trees cling to the windswept hillside, inside it's mostly flagstones.
chris107: (Okay, thanks Simon.)
Smon: Doesn't look good for entangle.
genghisdon: (didn't thinl this was entangle territry)
genghisdon: (think,,, territory)
chris107: (Nor Heat Metal weather
)
genghisdon: (we wil lbe inside, it might be fine for a meta larmored villain, like a cleric)
Smon: The bandit looks at Sweetrede: "I'll help you, just don't let 'em kill me!"
genghisdon: (hard to cast spells while cooking)
chris107: Hope so
chris107: SR @ Boy - Don't worry son, you saw how powerful these lads are, we'll make you a captain if you help us..
genghisdon: M still in elven "lets have him lead us to his leader & the girls"
genghisdon: (maybe get a name?)
chris107: SR @ Boy, Just take us there son, then stand by me
chris107: What's your name?
Smon: "Tramper, sir."
chris107: SR @ Tramper - "Have we got a deal Tramper?"
Smon: "Uh, yes, sir."
chris107: In Elven,- Should some of our boys dress in the bandits gear? Try and surprise the bosses?
Smon: The soldiers have finished stacking dead bandits propped up around the fire.
genghisdon: "I sat we just move as quickly as possible now"
genghisdon: say
chris107: @ Tramper, "Stick close to me then, show me the way."
genghisdon: my armor on?
Smon: ok
Goonergeezer: garrick" i agree, quick in, quick out"
chris107: Ovet to you Sir garrik
chris107: @ M with a wink - Up to you my dear
Smon: Tramper indicates the central building from which faint light comes through shuttered windows. "That's the refec- rect... eatin'-hall, most of the boys is there. The Master is down below."
genghisdon: (dunno if plate is back on yet, I;, waiting THAT long)
Smon: armour on
genghisdon: (ooo, can we get to the master without seeing the others?!)
Goonergeezer: garrick: perhaps we should clear up here first, i dont like the idea of having to run out and coming across all these men"
chris107: @ Simon, SR will take a back role for a moment, casting spells where needed but keeping out of the fighting. Back in 5
Smon: "The Master's down in the Crypts, with his Bully-Bears and the dead uns that walk..."
chris107: 3
genghisdon: (i like taking the head off an enemy really, really, mucho)

Smon rolls 1d6 and gets:

genghisdon: M tries the door, sees if it's barred or locked
Smon: It seems to be locked or barred from the inside.
chris107: SR whispers @Tramper - "Stay close"
Smon: The building resembles a small fortress itself.
Smon: Tramper: "We knock an' yell to get em to open the doors."
genghisdon: elven "sweetrede, ask how he gets in, please"
chris107: SR @ Tramper - "Is there a pass word?"
Smon: "Naw, just open up!"
chris107: @ Tramper "Show us how"
genghisdon: "pound &8 yell boys" M draws her blades
Smon: "They know me voice..." Tramper steps forward and pounds on the door. "Open up boys!" Then he scurries back, behind Sweetrede.
chris107: SR Falls to the back, preparing his magic

chris107: Remind me to avoid the Uruks if we ever get to play GG

genghisdon: yesturday was awesome (still here) but now the chill has moved in
chris107: Winter is upon us again

chris107: (I guess breeding with Orcs is a bit of a specialist market anyway?)
chris107: Are you any where near Swansea Gooner?
Goonergeezer: its not too far from me, about 30 mins by train
Smon: ok, settling in now

chris107: I met some old friends at a wedding who I havent seen for 15 years. They've invited me down to stay some time.

Goonergeezer: yea i would be up for that :-)
chris107: @ Simon - Sweetrede will learn the same spells as last time.
chris107: (
)Smon: Morgana: "which way & what terrain?" GM: Lysana explains that the ruins lie on the western edge of a bluff overlooking heathlands to the NE of her estate.

Smon: All 3 PCs are at Lysana's manor, though Sweetrede didn't go in the bath pool

chris107: (I said earlier I was taking same spells as last time Don, forgot to ask about the weather
)genghisdon: (do we leave the men here as a cover? sneak off in a storm kike crazy people? M is starting to like that plan
chris107: Sweetrede says yes
genghisdon: (gooner, take the men ? be aware they have morale scores, unlike us)
atherton Has entered the room
chris107: Hey Ath

atherton: greetings fellow gentle orcs
Goonergeezer: (i say take the men, but i think we need to avoid the temp,le at the mo, it could cause no end of trouble with countess Varuna)
genghisdon: hi atherton, how are you?
Smon: hi ath
chris107: @ Gooner - Countess varuna's a baddy?)
genghisdon: what? temple of the evil cleric? or am i mixed up?
atherton: good thanks Don, and how are the 10x10' stone flagged corridors of Castle Greyhawk?
genghisdon: no idea, i never got there yet
Goonergeezer: (or at least find out what varuna minds if we kill the evil cleric abbey, she seemed friendly towards them
genghisdon: (??? fuck that, kill now)
chris107: (Is this something I missed last week?)
genghisdon: (or capture, at least)
genghisdon: (don't worry, I always do too)

Goonergeezer: (reguardless of who is there we have to kill everyone)
chris107: (You're determined to be NE Gooner
)genghisdon: (i don't think that is EVER the case, but lead on)
chris107: (We only ever follow Sir Garriks orders)
atherton Has exited the room
Smon: OK, what is good Sir Garrick commanding?

genghisdon: (lately, as i never what is going on, yes)
chris107: (Sir Garrik The Strangler?
)Goonergeezer: (we go to the temple, i am just worried that it could cause offence with varuna)
chris107: (Time to baste, two minutes)
genghisdon: (why? simon, what am i missing?)
chris107: (Youre worried about causing her offence? You tried to bloody strangle her a couple of weeks ago!
)Smon: By temple you mean the ruined abbey of the black monks where the Anti-Cleric is rumoured to lair, Gooner?
If it does not open in a new window automatically, [Click Here]
genghisdon: "a day for dark deeds"
chris107: (And call lightning
)genghisdon: lol
genghisdon: (notice I didn't say it might not halt us)
Smon: The stablehand gives direction to the ruined abbey, five miles east over the moors...
genghisdon: (perfect, moors in rain)
Goonergeezer: Garrick @ men at arms " Lads after this i promiase you all, a good night out for all is on me

chris107: (I live on the rainy moors!)
genghisdon: (pooe sod)
genghisdon: poor

5,Smon: Your horses make slow time in the rain across ground that has quickly turned boggy, and night is falling by the time you see the ruined abbey ahead, silhouetted against the dusky sky.
Smon: /roll 1d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets:
6,chris107: SR - Lets dismount, leave the beasts here.

Smon: You head up the cliff path...
chris107: (Just like been at home Simon
)Goonergeezer: garrick: yes sr that would be helpful, but please be careful
Smon: Morganna's hawk perches on her shoulder.

chris107: Crawling on his unarmoured belly he will get closer..
chris107: Keeping to the darkness
genghisdon: i leave lightning behind, poor thing
genghisdon: unless its too late to
Smon: Sweetrede crawls in the muddy ground, soon topping the rise.

Or a lone elf maid struggling in out of the weather alone, surprise, outrage, shocked squeal and run away?
chris107: Followed by randy brigands
genghisdon: souns good, but I need to ditch my plate for that to fly, methinks
chris107: Into waiting blood thirsty Sir Garrik and his charming friends
genghisdon: if i ditch the armor I can just sneak up on them 1-4
chris107: Yup, show a bit of elfy ass as you wiggle away

genghisdon: sounds pretty good actually
chris107: Lure them out the lusty old goats.
genghisdon: yes...you seem determined to get me killed today, but it should work
chris107: We lurk in the dark to pounce
genghisdon: yep
chris107: (Hell I'm AC10 all the time
)genghisdon: (we need to get u some leather)
chris107: Nah, not very 'Wise Man'
genghisdon: (I'd give u mine, but it's not likely a fit)
chris107: I like the idea of playing a nature wizard
genghisdon: yeah, and 2 places of AC isn't that big a sacrafice
chris107: But it wouldn't look the part.

3,Smon: They've not seen her yet.
genghisdon: M walks drunkenly into view, feinds surprise & shock at seeing them
chris107: (SR thought he'd seen 7 watch out for lurkers M)
genghisdon: basicly as chris outlined
Smon: The men look up in surprise. "Wassis den? One o da girls?!"
genghisdon: "oh no!"
genghisdon: M "slips"
Smon: Several men rise to their feet. "Oi, you! C'mere!"
genghisdon: "Oh, I must get away" M wiggles clumslily away
Smon: Make a d20 CHA check, +4 bonus to your CHA
Smon: roll under
chris107: (Loving the elven babe voice Don
)genghisdon rolls 1d20 and gets:
10,genghisdon: 7 under
chris107: The lusty brutes will be after her on that!

Goonergeezer rolls 1d8 and gets:

Goonergeezer rolls 1d8 and gets:

chris107: SR prepares to charm an unwounded one if they flee
genghisdon: ok simon? initiative for gooner & his men?
Smon: ok, the d20s mixed in randomly w d8s is really hard to read :C]
Goonergeezer: (sorry 4 hits including trask 8,2,4 and 1 dam)
Goonergeezer: (trask did the 1 dam)
Smon: 2nd last was F2 Cpl Olger, he missed?
Goonergeezer: olger did a 4 dam
Smon: 4+2=6, ok, he kills. 1 target is missed, 1 is only wounded, the other 4 are killed.
Smon: Sweetrede has moved round behind them to block their escape back into the Abbey.

genghisdon: not the last, he is for Swetreded, sorry, ignore rolls
Smon: You could bonk him on the head w subdual dmg

chris107: Charm is more subtle

Smon: Sweetrede casts charm?
genghisdon: that's ok, roll save vs our druid friend
genghisdon: (oops)
chris107: Yes
Smon: /roll 1d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets:
12,chris107: "Come to Uncle Sweetrede!"
Smon: ok, he's charmed, but still panicked...
Smon: what's your CHA bonus?
Smon: /roll 1d100
genghisdon: "take it easy, I'm not going to hurt you"
Smon rolls 1d100 and gets:

49,chris107: "My son, come to me. I will keep you safe."
genghisdon: (mine is +5, but chris is +15 or more)
chris107: +15%

Smon: Doesn't look good for entangle.
genghisdon: (didn't thinl this was entangle territry)
genghisdon: (think,,, territory)
chris107: (Nor Heat Metal weather
)genghisdon: (we wil lbe inside, it might be fine for a meta larmored villain, like a cleric)

Back in 5
Smon: "The Master's down in the Crypts, with his Bully-Bears and the dead uns that walk..."
chris107: 3
genghisdon: (i like taking the head off an enemy really, really, mucho)
genghisdon: "ah, sir garricks idea then...off we go"
Smon: ooc I'm feeling pretty grotty, plan to finish up at 9pm
Goonergeezer: (ok)
Smon: GM: OK you assemble then head through the dark, sodden ruins towards the central hall, perhaps the old refectory of the Black Monks.
Smon: /roll 1d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets:
4,Smon: As you get closer you can hear muffled sounds of merriment from beyond the great black oak double-doors. Morgana can make out signs of rebuilding.
chris107: back
Smon: You reach the doors apparently unnoticed.
Smon: /roll 1d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets:
4,Smon: The rain is still pouring down.
genghisdon: M tries the door, sees if it's barred or locked
"Open up boys!" Then he scurries back, behind Sweetrede.
chris107: SR Falls to the back, preparing his magic
genghisdon: "you and I on point Garrick"
chris107: Staying in the shadows where possible
Goonergeezer: (yep)
Smon: A moment later there's a voice from behind the door. "Your watch ain't over, Tramper you dog! I'll flay yer hide!"
genghisdon: (a good lie please Tramp!)
chris107: SR whispers "Tell him youve got another woman
Smon: Tramper looks numbly at Morganna... "A woman... ok... HEY RETCHER! WE GOT A WOMAN!"
chris107: An elf maid
Smon: "CAUGHT ME AN ELF MAID!"
Smon: /roll 1d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets:
3,Smon: "Eh?" You hear the sound of the bolt being lifted, then the doors swing open, revealing three men, two in studded, one a big paunchy man in chain carrying a loaded x-bow levelled.
genghisdon: "Hi, i'm another woman" as M stabs him
Smon: ok, roll init
