Gold and silver coins are small; gold, silver and electrum coins weigh about 100 to the lb. Copper coins are larger, 50 to the lb.
1gp ('Crown') is roughly £100 in purchasing power.
1 ep ('Half Crown') = 0.5gp (1/2) = £50
1 sp ('Shilling') = 0.05gp (1/20) = £5 (Pathfinder sp = 2 shillings)
1 cp ('Penny') = 0.005 (1/200) = 50p. Half pennies (1/100lb) and Quarter pennies (farthings) are also used.
Platinum coins are rarely used, but priced at 5gp, £500.
Beer prices vary from 1 cp/pint for watered small beer at a cheap 'dive' tavern, to around 5 cp/pint for good strong ale at a decent tavern. Exclusive dining halls have been known to charge 1 sp/pint.
Yggsburgh wages are high; a labourer can command a monthly wage of some 5gp; a soldier 1st class (Fighter-1) can command 10gp, plus bed and board. Day labourers hired for a specific task typically command 5 sp/day, whereas 'combat pay' risking life and limb is at least 10gp/day.

Albert Rasch the Haberdasher
A large and very fancy clothes store with front show rooms and a coffee & tea bar. The sign shows a noble gentleman doffing a plumed hat. The sales staff seem initially rather frosty towards those of rough demenanour, but if you flash some gold you may purchase:
A ladies' gown, stockings and shoes suitable for society 'day' wear: 14gp.
Ladies' ball gown & acoutrements suitable for grand occasions: 25gp
Gentleman's day outfit (blouson, trews, boots): 8gp
Gentleman's evening dress, suitable for grand occasions: 15gp
The most lavish bespoke nobles' outfits (75-200gp+) are not generally available to commoners.
Of course, as the haberdashers explain, a lady should also have suitable jewelry in addition, whether simple silver for day wear (ca 12-25gp), or gold and gems for the Grand Ball (ca 50-250gp+).
