chris107: Except the snow
Smon: heh
Smon: Cold down here in London, but the snow isn't lying, yet.
chris107: How are things in the semi-tropical South?
chris107: Been snowing steadily here since lunch time. Perfect evening for staying in with Wagner and some D&D
Goonergeezer Has entered the room
Goonergeezer: hiyas
chris107: Hey GG
Smon: Hi GG
Goonergeezer: 2 secs and ill be with you
Smon: cool
chris107: I've got a few more bits of equipment to add to the character Simon. Also spells usually memorized 'n stuff.
chris107: Most importantly a wide brimmed 'inquisition' style hat (7SP) and a witch burning kit.
Smon: Are you playing a Cleric? I'm not sure if you sent me a sheet?
Smon: Just looking over PMs
Goonergeezer: back
chris107: Also what cost for a sharpened stake with a leather thong
Smon: 1 sp
Goonergeezer: your wearing a leather thong!?
Smon:
chris107: It's the Prior Melchior character from the last page of the 'Looking for games' page
Goonergeezer: portly cleric wearing a thong, now there is an image burnt into my mind now
Smon: So I want to get PCs sorted tonight, and ideally play a short intro session too.
Smon: ok thx
chris107: Sinful thoughts Mr. GG. Tut-tut. Penance for you all ready
Goonergeezer: what alignment chris?
chris107: Lawful Good
chris107: I put the character description and a picture in the usual place.
Smon: I couldn't access the photobucket picture.
Smon: brb
chris107: I think you got to click on the TalveshTvar Icon in the top right to access all the pictures.
Goonergeezer: i decided not to go with the pally in the end, im going with CG Barbarian, i could not find the pally that i wrote up, although i could write him up i had the idea for the backstory
chris107: That's a shame was looking forward to some religious zeal.
Goonergeezer: just had another look and found it straight away! spent 30 mins searching for it earlier lol
chris107: Total required for additional equipment = 4GP, 1SP, 10CP.
chris107: Sod's Law
Goonergeezer: dont thinkk i posted it, so i will quickly do so now
chris107: I'll go back and add the extra equipment too.
chris107 Has exited the room
Smon: GG, have you posted your PC anywhere?
Goonergeezer: just posted bare basics on dfoot
chris107 Has entered the room
chris107: Character updated
Smon: So I'd like to get the PCs finalised now. Chris can you roll 2d8 for extra hp?
chris107 rolls 2d8 and gets:
3,
6, = 9
chris107: so 17HP?
chris107: (It seems like the link to the pic has broken
)
Smon: 17 hp yup
Smon: GG I've been over the last 5 pages of the DF thread, loads of PCs but no sign of a Paladin?
Goonergeezer: quick backstory, will flesh out tomorrow, been in monastry since fighting at oak ridge, took some grevious wounds and has spent the time since convalescing (the carnage witnessed wore heavily on his mind) and has only recently left the monastry to escort clreics to the shrine in the fallen paladin...

SBLaxman Has entered the room
chris107: (It (the pic) is still up from the link on my 'New Picture' thread on the Dragonsfoot Arts section, just click on the TalvesTvar icon on the top right from that link.)
Goonergeezer: posted under dm wanted for gmt 1e game
SBLaxman Has exited the room
chris107: Ah! Transport! Yes I must get a mule.
Smon: Chris can you put your pic somewhere public, where I don't have to sign up a new account to access it? eg a blogspot blog?
chris107: Or is it more humble to walk?
chris107: See 6 lines up
Smon: ok I see him GG, thanks.
genghisdon Has entered the room
chris107: Hey Don
genghisdon: sorry guys, I've got a Xmas party to prepare for/go to
genghisdon: but Hi
Smon: hi don
Goonergeezer: had it written up on paper just never transfered it to df :-(
chris107: Have fun
Goonergeezer: hiya don
genghisdon: are we going to play thursdays? (better than friday for me)
Smon: >>(It (the pic) is still up from the link on my 'New Picture' thread on the Dragonsfoot Arts section, just click on the TalvesTvar icon on the top right from that link.)<< URL?
genghisdon: at 6 (1)?
chris107: That's the one Simon.
Smon: I can't play next Thursday; after that I can do some Thursdays over Xmas yes.
chris107: (Also a picture of Moffet on there somewhere too Simon
)
genghisdon: ok then, have fun guys, I've gotta get shaved, showered, etc
genghisdon: see ya next time
chris107: Enjoy your evening Don.
genghisdon Has exited the room
Smon: I found the DF art New Picture thread but it just goes to Photobucket, and I would need to create a new account to access anything there. It won't even let me login via Facebook.
chris107: I'll PM you a link
chris107: or log in using chris@lightangle.freeserve.co.uk and I'll PM you the password.
chris107: I'll do that now back in 2
chris107: PM sent
Smon: ok thx, I've been able to view the pics although it won't let me save them.
Smon: Gooner I think you need to roll a hit die?
chris107: Grrr. I'm afraid I don't know how to put them onto posts directly.
Smon: Chris, I'd like to give your PC something on top of the +1 mace in return for giving up armour use. Maybe Sage ability from DMG?
chris107: (All extras are greatly accepted Simon
)
chris107: 'Reaches for DMG'
Smon: ok go to page 31
Goonergeezer: is it max for 1st lvl?
Smon: yes
Goonergeezer rolls 1d10 and gets:
3,
Smon: So Paladin 2 has d10+10
Smon: 13 base hp then
Goonergeezer: thats 13 hp
chris107: Which fields were you thinking off Simon?
Smon: Chris, I'm thinking you start with the minimum Sage knowledge - 2 minor fields & 1 spec category, then move up 1 stage per level, eg next level add 1 spec category.
chris107: Cool
chris107: Theology & Myth as spec, okay?
chris107: Can't see any Undead stuff in the list.
Smon: Ok, choose 1 other spec cat from Humankind, and roll % for minor field of study.
chris107: Unless part of Dweomercraft?
Smon: prob Legends & Folklore
chris107: That's fine and then /roll 1d100
Smon: /roll 1d100
Smon rolls 1d100 and gets:
47,
chris107 rolls 1d100 and gets:
55,
Smon: 55
Smon: Humanoids & Giantkind, probably useful
chris107:
Smon: Re campaign start - assuming you are keen to explore Castle Zagyg as previously discussed; I'm thinking that your PCs could be at the Shrine of the Fallen Paladin in Gaxhill on pilgrimage, when you hear rumours of a mysterious cavern within the caves below Castle Zagyg's northern bluffs...
chris107: Does Prior Melchior know of the devout Reginald?
chris107: Big YES to that from me
Smon: Reginald's description says he escorts pilgrims to the Shrine of the Fallen Paladin, so that would make sense he'd have escorted the frail Melchior there.
chris107: 'weak cough....'
Goonergeezer: reg: my dear father if your business here is done i feel that my time spent recuperating is at an end and once again i feel the pull of adventure and heroic deeds pulling at me, once again my sword feels the need to smite the wicked and evil at their very hearts
Smon: This cave seems to be some kind of 'gate' or 'portal' - When the Mists first receded from the northern slopes of the castle several months ago, the first adventurers to find the cave reported that it led out onto a barren red wasteland beneath a darkling sky, the air very thin.
chris107: Spells for tonight: 1st (4) Command, Cure Light Wounds X2, Sanctuary. 2nd (3) Find Traps, Hold Person X2
chris107: Mel: 'The fire of goodness burns bright in you Reginald, I will do my humble best to assist you.'
Smon: But more recently, a second party of adventurers found it, and reported that it led out onto a vast grassy plain, roamed by enormous herds of beasts.
chris107: Mel: 'But use the sight God has given you to espy any evil doers. They must be brought back to grace or smitten.'
Goonergeezer: reg perhap this portal leads to different places depending on the time in which we enter, or that time passes at a different rate on the other side and the once barren wasteland had turned to pastures new....
Smon: In both cases the adventurers did not go far. The Holy Church has a well developed interest in such Portals, and the perils they may pose to the Realm and the immortal souls of the Lord's flock.
chris107: @ Simon - What is the churches views on using these portals?
chris107: @ Simon - Melchior will stay within Reg's Holy Aura, he finds it soothing.
chris107: (When appropriate)
Goonergeezer: Reg: i think perhaps firat a test, if we were to enter and leave some food, exit for a short while and then return to see if the food has spoiled or the terrain has changed
chris107: Mel @ Reg - 'Perhaps a prayer and a few verses of 'Hail the brazen paladin smites!' may be appropriate before we do anything else?
Smon: >> What is the churches views on using these portals?<< Such things should be used with caution, lest they lead you into Hell! Of course a Paladin can detect the stench of such diabolical portals...
chris107: @Reg - 'Does Evil eminate from the place?
Goonergeezer: reg: indeed father, let us pray for the heathens who will not submit to the lords will, these must be cleansed in the lords holy fire
chris107: 'AHMEN!'
Goonergeezer: reg concentrates and feels around for evil
Goonergeezer: slowly working his way towards the portal until he gets to within 5' of it
chris107: Melchior sniffs and pokes about too.
chris107: Praying loudly
Smon: GM: do you want to start at the pilgrims' inn at Gaxhill, or in media res approaching the portal?
chris107: (but staying within 10' of Reg)
chris107: Approaching the portal it seems
Good for me. Get to smiting sooner
Goonergeezer: ooc (what you think chris? check it out and then possibly go back to get some reinforcments if needed, more of a recce mission at first)
Smon: ok, brb 5 mins
chris107: @ Simon - Is there any other folklore - legends that Prior M is aware of about the place?
chris107: OOC (I think that's a good idea GG, we don't have to go smitting at the first opportunity, just find out what needs to be smitten
)
chris107: (I think your detect evil and protection vs evil will be priceless to us)
Goonergeezer: the detect evil i have to concentrate tho
chris107: If we're steady away that shouldn't be a problem. 'All must submit to the detailed scrutiny of The Lord!'
chris107: @It's for their own good, the good of their immortal souls!'
Smon: re legends - Melchior knows the tales of Castle Zagyg, supposedly built by the Archmage a century ago.
chris107: @And you, Reginald, the choosen, strong right arm of The Lord shall smite them justly!'
Smon: Zagyg was said to be the greatest master of magic who ever lived, capable of travelling to other planes of existence.
Smon: There are no stories of this cave in particular; it might be a more recent phenomenon.
chris107: Thanks Simon.
Goonergeezer: reg: A sorceror and user of dark pagan magics i am sure
chris107: @ Simon - Any hints to Zagyg's 'tendancies'?
Smon: GM: Melchior and Reginald have travelled to the bluffs on the north side of the great citadel, beneath the mist-shrouded walls of the enchanted fortress.
Smon: Zagyg would either be N or CN most likely, from accounts.
chris107: 'Witches will surely burn in the sulpherous firey pits below Reginald, but some white wizards can further our cause.'
Smon: Rumour has it that it was he who broke the siege of Yggsburgh, bringing destruction down on the sieging armies of Redfort and Easmoor.
chris107: 'A deffinate candidate for the pits then!'
Goonergeezer: "indeed let not our zeal blind us to the truth"
chris107: 'AHMEN!'
chris107: (So any evil?)
Smon: GM: There are numerous caves along the northern bluffs; M & R take the westernmost, which leads into a small cave complex until recently inhabited by a band of gnolls. Remnants of decayed gnoll corpses now lie scattered about, but most of the flesh has been devoured by rats and wolves, soon there will be little but bones.
chris107: 'A just end to such foul creatures.'
Smon: You scare off a couple of well-fed wolves and begin searching for the secret door that leads deeper into the dungeons... (brb 10 min)
chris107: I'll go grab a glass of wine then.
Goonergeezer: reg: let us investigate this cave further, we can use it as a base camp when we return, a little fortification and we have ourselves a sturdy place to rest and recuperate inbetween forays
Goonergeezer: fizzy pop for the tee-totaller
chris107: Mel: Perhaps we can enlist some sturdy peasants to clean it first?'
chris107: tee-totaller? Since when GG?
Goonergeezer: a long time now, cant stand the booze
chris107: Ah, good for you. I do enjoy a tipple
Goonergeezer: i must admit i do have other vices tho
Goonergeezer: in a powerful baratone voice reg starts singing..........
Goonergeezer: " Morning has broken, your head right open, blackbirds are pecking, your eyeballs out, Praise for the singeing, praise for the mauling Praise for the spurting, fresh from the wound.
chris107: I hope that's OOC
Smon: In the south wall of the eastern chamber of the gnoll lair, you locate the secret door. With a grind the stone slab rotates, revealing a rough-hewn tunnel that bends south & east to an intersection ahead. The air here is strangely warm, humid.
chris107: Shall I map?
Smon: You're in a 30' e-w by 50' n-s rectangular chamber, the former gnol chi
Goonergeezer: reg quitens down once they pass rthrough the secret entrance
Smon: chief's lair, the tunnel you came in by exits to the west, the secret door in the middle of the s wall.
chris107: Got it.
Smon: The secret tunnel bends s & e 40' before reaching an intersection, to the south a rough-hewn cave with a central raised well. To the east your tunnel continues, bending back north in a U shape.
Smon: Who has the light source?
Goonergeezer: in quitened tones : let us stick to the left hand wall then we will not get ourselves lost
Goonergeezer: ooc: does mel's mace glow?
chris107: Haha! School boy blunder by me..
chris107: @ Simon - Does the Holy Rod glow?
Smon: From the cave to the south, it looks like a narrow 3'-5' wide tunnel leads out, little more than a cleft in the rock.
Smon: The Holy Rod can have a cont light on it if you want, yes.
chris107: Cool
Smon: The narrow tunnel leads out from the west wall of the irregular cave.
Smon: /roll 1d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets:
1,
Smon: In the Rod's holy light, you can make out the gleam of bone in the cave - it looks like a skeleton, man-sized, sprawled beyond the well.
chris107: 'Reginald, do you detect any evil within?'
Smon: From here you can only see the legs, the torso must be propped up against the lip of the well.
Goonergeezer: from where we are standing reg pauses and concentrates on detect evil
chris107: M takes his holy symbol in hand, presenting it boldly and whispering a prayer.
Smon: You detect no evil. The cave is dark, humid, floor thick with reddish dirt and debris. The old well is about 6' across, made of crumbling masonry 3' high.
Goonergeezer: reg cautiously edges his way towards the well and then peers down it
chris107: M testing the floor ahead with his rod.
chris107: Holy symbol still in the other hand.
chris107: (towards the skeleton)
Goonergeezer: reg " if this well contains fresh water, then to fortify this area as well will prove invaluble to us
Smon: You enter the cave and approach the well from the north side. You can see rusty iron rungs leading downward to about 20', ending abruptly in a luminous glowing fog - Zagyg's Curse.
Smon: The fog is said to teleport any who enter it far away, often turning them into frogs, to boot.
Goonergeezer: any sign of a rope or bucket?
Smon: no
chris107: M makes the sign of the cross to avert the evil.
chris107: And approaches the skeleton..
Smon: Approaching the skeleton, you see it appears to be a man, propped against the south side of the well.
Goonergeezer: is it just a skeleton or is there any clothing/gera with it as well?
Goonergeezer: gear
Smon: There are tattered wisps of clothing, and in its hands it grips the hilt of an ancient blade, still scabbarded. The leather scabbard looks badly decayed.
Smon: It looks like the man(?) laid down to rest here, leaning on his sword, and died.
Goonergeezer: reg picks up the scabbarded blade and draws it for further examination
Smon: The scabbard shows signs of having once been bejeweled, but all the pockets are empty now.
Smon: Reg draws the blade, and gasps as the shining longsword bursts into flame!!
Smon: The flames light the cave's dark recesses, but do not burn you.
chris107: 'Beware DEVILMENT!'
chris107: @ Reg - 'Does the blade show any hint of evil?'
Smon: Suddenly, from the narrow exit tunnel (which slopes down gently) you hear a muffled *CRACK* *CRACK* *CRACK*, as of dry sticks breaking, perhaps.
Goonergeezer: reg " i have heard stories of such weapons that burn with the lords fire but do not harm the bearer, if the sword had devilment in it i would of felt it before, such a weapon is a prize to be had indeed
Smon: The blade does not radiate evil. The *CRACK* sounds seemed to be a good ways off.
chris107: @ Smon - Looking at the sword, does it appear to have any distinguishing features that may make it 'legendary?
Smon: There are what look like runes on the hilt of the flaming sword.
Goonergeezer: is there any runes or writing to be seen on the blade or scabbard?
chris107: M; Stands behind the well away from the crack but presents his cross in that direction.
Smon: The runes look vaguely Nerian, a language with which Melchior is familiar.
Goonergeezer: i examine it to see if it is in a klanguage i understand
Goonergeezer: "can you decipher it father?
Smon: Melchior, roll d20 vs INT, equal or less to decipher.
chris107: I fear evil may be stirring down that passage (points west)
chris107 rolls 1d20 and gets:
17,
chris107:
chris107: Fail - 14
Smon: Melchior glances at the runes - they seem Nerian, but subtly different. Something that looks like 'holy' 'fire' and 'heathen'?
Goonergeezer: reg sheathes the blade in his own sscabbard and in hushed tones asks mel to douse the light
chris107: @ Reg - 'I feel The Lord has ordained this blade for you'
Smon: Melchior turns his attention back to the west tunnel - it sounds as if footsteps are approaching! A single pair, running towards you.
Goonergeezer: reg " it is a sign"
chris107: 'Nay, we need not skulk in the darkness.'
Smon: Reg sheathes the blade, the fire going out (add flametongue longsword to your sheet)
chris107: OOC preparing a turn attempt.
Goonergeezer: reg draws the blade and steps forward into the tunnel "hold friend and declare your intention lest my sword runs you through
Goonergeezer: ooc (cant be ambushing people, its just not on)
Smon: As Reg steps towards the tunnel, a figure clad in sweat-soaked light brown shirt & short trews bursts out of it at a run - a woman! Tall, brunette, very beautiful and of near amazonian physique, she stops immediately, staring at the pair of you in surprise, and takes a step back, half raising a black metal object in her hands.
Smon: "Glattu kapath mryert?!"
chris107: 'Halt child!'
Smon: "Vasca bull du?"
Goonergeezer: reg lowers his blade, my lady please forgive me, i thought you were a foul beast running towards us
chris107: M: Raises his hand in the universal gesture for peace.
Smon: The woman frowns, looking over the two of you. "Thracian? Sprechen ze Hellas?"
chris107: Any language recognized?
chris107: (What's the metal object look like?)
Goonergeezer: reg: poor heathen she speaks not the language of ourselves
Smon: It sounds a bit like New Sharan, spoken in the lands east of Shar.
chris107: Does she appear to recognize the cross symbol?
Smon: The object looks like a short hollow metal rod, she is holding it by a handle just behind a cylindrical bulge.
Eliana Has entered the room
Eliana:
chris107: Hi Eli
Eliana: Brief annoyance... I'm not staying..!
Smon: Melchior presents his cross. She takes it in. "Crissan?!" She lowers the metal object, then glances behind her, down the tunnel.
Smon: (hi El)
Goonergeezer: reg sheathes his sword and rummages in his bags for some bread, which he breaks in two and offers half of it
Eliana: (Hi)
Goonergeezer: (hiya)
chris107: Does she look concerned about what's following her?
chris107: (She looks out of breath?)
Smon: "You arze Crissian? Abyssinian?" She looks at Reginald. "You arze whyte!"
Smon: She looks out of breath, her face is streaked with sweat, a lock of brown hair hangs damply over her brow.
chris107: 'Crissian, yah.'
Goonergeezer: reg " we mean you no harm, what hunts you? i help you"
Eliana Has exited the room
Smon: After another glance down the tunnel, the woman steps forward and takes the bread, but doesn't eat. "I'm not hungry... I can understand you!" Her eyes widen.
Smon: "You're not with the cannibals, then?"
chris107: Which cannibals?
chris107: 'Do they chase you?'
Smon: "The Thracian degenerates... the Professor believes they're descended from the original inhabitants, not the jungle savages..." Her accent is becoming increasingly aristocratic, reminiscent of a well brought up Yggsburgh lady.
Goonergeezer: reg " what strange magics are at work here? cannibals no not us, but they hunt you? let us stand here and punish these foul heathens, i will let no harm come to you, that is my pledge here and now my lady"
chris107: OOC = Perhaps another of these transporter gates?
chris107: OOC - Complete with Tongues.
Smon: She nods. "Thanks - I'm hoping they won't have followed me into the cave. It's supposed to be Taboo. I'm Daker by the way... Janet Daker. What brings you to the Mountains of the Moon? You're not native?"
chris107: OOC - Is that Lovecraft GG?
Goonergeezer: reg " i am reginald staff-goffsley the third, me and father melchior here were exploring these caves with a view to returning at a later date with reinforcment and clearing all foul beasts and enchantments from within"
chris107: OOC - Or King Solomon's Mines?
Goonergeezer: reg " we are native to these lands, i am from yggsburgh which lies less than a days march hence"
chris107: M @ Janet D -Who is this professor you speak of?
Smon: Janet Daker looks at Reginald. "You sound English, but your clothes... positively medieval!"
chris107: Medi - EVIL!
chris107: ???
Smon: She turns to M. "Professor Drummond, leader of the Thracia expedition."
Goonergeezer: reg: i am hardly dressed for court, but my armour doth suffice for our environs"
chris107: @Madame I can assure you of good Sir Reginald's state of grace'
Smon: Janet frowns. "Um, this may sound like a silly question, but what year is it?"
chris107: @ JD - At which University?
Smon: "Oxford, I believe."
chris107: 'Oxford? a strange name indeed.'
Smon: Janet raises an eyebrow at that.
chris107: (Any sound of more feet from down the corridor?)
Smon: (no)
Smon: >>Smon: Janet frowns. "Um, this may sound like a silly question, but what year is it?"<<
Goonergeezer: reg " it is the sixth day of the twelth month of **96
Smon: Janet: "96? AD 96?"
Smon: She frowns. "Or Ethiopian calendar?"
chris107: 'Ethiopia? AD?'
chris107: (Is Latin the universal church language here?)
Goonergeezer: it is 2712 in the sharam calendar
Goonergeezer: sharan
Smon: "AD - Year of Our Lord, of course. Sharan? I've not heard of that."
Smon: Janet goes over and sits on the lip of the well, looking suddenly tired.
chris107: (Prior M makes the sign of the cross)
chris107: @ J - ' Janet, it seems some of our words are strange but it seems that you know of The Almighty?
Smon: "You're Christian - at least half Ethiopian, by the look of you, and your accent - but you use a calendar I've never heard of... I don't suppose you've heard of England? Italy? Il Duce is trampling over Ethiopia right now..."
chris107: Your phrase 'Year of our Lord' suggests this..
Smon: Janet nods. "Yes, The Almighty, Christ, the Son of God. Of course."
Goonergeezer: reg " my dear lady dakar, you look positivly exhausted, perhaps you would accompany us back to town where you may rest and recuperate, we have many wise men and universities in yggsburgh, perhaps you wil gfind the answers you are looking for there??"
chris107: 'So you are safe here,'
Smon: Janet brightens up. "Back to town? You know a way out of these caves, avoiding the cannibals?"
chris107: (The son of god - New testemant - does it translate in game or is it sacriligious?)
Smon: (The Holy Church reveres the Son, yes)
Smon: (Basically it is Christianity with a bit of Mithraism here & there)
chris107: (Thanks)
Goonergeezer: reg: " we have only just entered the caves, we can have you out of here in under 5 minutes if you will permit us"
Smon: Janet nods, though looking a bit wary, and stands. "Lead on, MacDuff!"
chris107: 'Then by all that's holy let's get this good Christian woman to safety.'
Goonergeezer: reg: "then let us depart"
Smon: GM: With Janet and newly acquired sword, you head back towards the sunlight... I reckon I'd better leave it there for tonight, and continue next time with the group.
chris107: (OOC - Not what I was expecting at all!
Smon:
chris107: Great start Simon!
Goonergeezer: ooc: another lost soul in our world
Smon: I'll post it
chris107: or another lamb returned to the fold..
chris107: Good find in the Firebrand sword GG
chris107: Fits in great with the Paladin.
Smon: The sword is on pg 45 of Mouths of Madness, I wouldn't normally hand out loot like that.
Smon Has entered the room
chris107: Evening Simon.

Goonergeezer: i decided not to go with the pally in the end, im going with CG Barbarian, i could not find the pally that i wrote up, although i could write him up i had the idea for the backstory
chris107: That's a shame was looking forward to some religious zeal.
Goonergeezer: just had another look and found it straight away! spent 30 mins searching for it earlier lol
chris107: Total required for additional equipment = 4GP, 1SP, 10CP.

chris107: (It seems like the link to the pic has broken
)Smon: 17 hp yup
Smon: GG I've been over the last 5 pages of the DF thread, loads of PCs but no sign of a Paladin?
Goonergeezer: quick backstory, will flesh out tomorrow, been in monastry since fighting at oak ridge, took some grevious wounds and has spent the time since convalescing (the carnage witnessed wore heavily on his mind) and has only recently left the monastry to escort clreics to the shrine in the fallen paladin...

genghisdon Has exited the room

Maybe Sage ability from DMG?
chris107: (All extras are greatly accepted Simon
)chris107: 'Reaches for DMG'
Smon: ok go to page 31
Goonergeezer: is it max for 1st lvl?
Smon: yes
Goonergeezer rolls 1d10 and gets:
3,Smon: So Paladin 2 has d10+10

47,chris107 rolls 1d100 and gets:

55,Smon: 55

Get to smiting soonerGoonergeezer: ooc (what you think chris? check it out and then possibly go back to get some reinforcments if needed, more of a recce mission at first)
Smon: ok, brb 5 mins
chris107: @ Simon - Is there any other folklore - legends that Prior M is aware of about the place?
chris107: OOC (I think that's a good idea GG, we don't have to go smitting at the first opportunity, just find out what needs to be smitten
)chris107: (I think your detect evil and protection vs evil will be priceless to us)
Goonergeezer: the detect evil i have to concentrate tho
chris107: If we're steady away that shouldn't be a problem.

1,Smon: In the Rod's holy light, you can make out the gleam of bone in the cave - it looks like a skeleton, man-sized, sprawled beyond the well.
chris107: 'Reginald, do you detect any evil within?'
17,chris107:

chris107: Fail - 14
