Smon: Are we starting w/out Amalric?
chris107:
chris107: Graham mentioned it was his daughters birthday so he would be sporadic at best.
Smon: I guess the pdf of Dragon 145 I found online was corrupt or doesn't allow printing, forced me to photocopy my actual hardcopy *eek*!
chris107:
Smon: OK if he shows up he can roll his level 4 hp.
chris107: Cadwal is all vapour headed upper class charm at dinner. I tried to type it in but it got lost
Smon: (Well I guess that's vapour headed!) GM: After the dinner on the night of your return, you spend most of the next two weeks resting & recovering from your exertions, training with Pyke the Master at Arms, and getting the lay of the land - Garrick of Kallent, and newly knighted Cadwal of his lovely betrothed...
chris107: Huzzah!
Smon: Garrick sends word to Yggsburgh seeking bowyers/fletchers, and 8 days after your return the grizzled bowyer Griswold of Yggsburgh indeed shows up at the castle to seek employment.
Goonergeezer: Huzzah!
chris107: (Nice name)
Smon: The ladies of the castle led by Countess Tabitha Kallent, and her sister Cadwal's mother Dame Fortescue, are hard at work planning the upcoming nuptials.
chris107: C suggest portraying his cousins gallant actions v the Ghoul in the tappastry.
chris107: (Forgive the spelling!)
Smon: Countess T: "An excellent idea dear nephew! I'll put that in the fifth adedndum."17/10/97 - Two weeks after your return, Sir Garrick and most of his leading men are in the courtroom discussing his plans for a Natalist policy, compulsory bow training et al. It's mid afternoon, Shade is completing his own self-training.
Smon: Lady Helen has been spending a lot of time discussing plans with "Mr Shade", however all know that her virtue is irreproachable so rumours are muted at most.
chris107: "Clever old stick Lady Hell."
Smon: (ie even the most scurrilous have to admit that Helen isn't the type to drop her knickers before the wedding night)
Goonergeezer: if any rumours are aired to Garrick he will only answer with a steely look and silence
Smon: With Garrick are Sir Cadwal, Sir Hugh, Master Serjeant Pyke, Bowmaster Griswold, anyone else you can think of?
chris107: Sir Hugh?
chris107: Oops missed that
Goonergeezer: The resident preist, the one tyhat looks like morgan freeman
Smon: You could invite Father Thadeus & Aole(?), yup.
Goonergeezer: Thaddeus
Smon: http://smonsyggsburgh.blogspot.co.uk/2011/12/nobles.html
Smon: Garrick outlines his plans - http://www.dragonsfoot.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=53154&sid=82bcea5da334c33ce8938f1cdee6c2c4&start=480#p1405476
Smon: Sir Hugh looks sceptical. "Two years' National Service? I don't see how the nobles or smallfolk will buy this, Garrick."
chris107: Ah yes Sir Garrick Stalin
chris107: "c'mon Cous. The pess won't stand for it!"
Smon: Hugh: "The County's vassals, yeomen and knights, are obliged to forty days' service annually - I doubt they'll stand for more. Some of the other things like the medals should be fine though, I guess..."
chris107: "hard enough to get them to grow a tomato let alone pull a bow "
Goonergeezer: "es i can see how this could pose a problem, especially families with farms, what i suggest is that we suppliment said farms and businesses with Orphan boys and girls, there are a fair few in Kallent, but also if we were to offer home and shelter to the orphans of yggsburgh whilst the sons and daughters were completeing their national service
chris107: "'N war's a gentlemans game after all."
Smon: Hugh looks puzzled, scratching his head. Father Thadeus strokes his beard with a rueful expression.
chris107: "Give the pess a bow and it will end in tears. mark my words."
Goonergeezer: perhaps if we drop the length of service, or perhaps just make them complete some sort of training..
Smon: Hugh: "Err, if we need more manpower, wouldn't it be simpler to draft these Yggsburgh orphans ourselves? I hear Easterling potentates do that sort of thing all the time - boys for the army, girls for the harem..."
Goonergeezer: these are just ideas i am kiccking around, i just want Kallent to be ready in time of war, after all we are not the biggest County, and every advantage we can get we shou;ld siexe
chris107: Cad nods at Sir Hugh's wise words.
Smon: A servant announces. "Lady Helen, my lords!" The young Lady Helen Kallent enters the courtroom, smiling and nodding to Sir Garrick.
Goonergeezer: Good man Hugh, Novel idea. Garrick stands as the lady Heklen enters
chris107: "But Cous. What about when we're not at war? The scum will start taking pot shots at their betters...."
Smon: Helen: "We are quite a big County, Sir Garrick!"
chris107: "Lady Hell :)"
Goonergeezer: Compaired to the force that dunfalcon or tho9se up north with their Dark wizard?
Smon: Helen: "Forgive me gentlemen, I don't know if I might be permitted to join you? I'm a little tired of embroidery for today..."
chris107: "And the wretches will shoot all the best game "
Goonergeezer: "My Lady your council is always well recieved, please sit
Smon: Helen sits at table with the rest of the group.
Smon: Helen: "It's true we're smaller than Dunfalcon, or Talworth I suppose..."
chris107: "watcha stiched Lady Hell? Did you get cousin G doing war upon the skeleton thingy?"
Goonergeezer: "then let us start training the peasantry in a small area to start with and see if any problems arise there before we decide if we bring it in countywide
Smon: "...But I have to agree with Cadwal, this sort of thing you propose smacks more of Easterling tyranny than a free land such as ours."
chris107: "Make 'em grow spuds for their own good Sir Hugh, What?"
Smon: Helen nods to Garrick's proposal of a trial, and turns to Cadwal: "No, my mother keeps all the best bits for herself I'm afraid!"
chris107: Cad nods sadly in agreement.
Smon: Hugh: "Perhaps get Sir Hawkes to send us some of these Yggsburgh orphans for training? But won't they be wretchedly underfed and scrawny?"
Goonergeezer: "the only other option we have if it comes to war is to hire mercenaries, tell me what mines do we have and would it be possible to run chain gangs with prisoners to maximise production?
chris107: "How's my darling doing Lady Hell? Hope she's well?"
Goonergeezer: "then that is settled, we shall aply to Yggsburg and gather their Orphans, they shall be the start and we shall see what happems
Smon: Helen starts to look a little flustered at Cadwal's repeated interjection of 'girl stuff'. Helen: "Why yes Cadwal, she grows more excited each day! Mother was just talking about setting a date for the wedding..."
chris107: "C'mon Cuos. If there's bother it's up to the gentry to deal, surely?"
chris107: "haha that's my girl!" He says entusiasticly!
Smon: Master Sergeant Pyke: "Steward Garrick, I believe Aldrun and Grane have some mines, and of course Yggsburgh is famous for them." Hugh: "Kallent is sadly not blessed with much mineral wealth, though, except in the eastern escarpments, and they're orc-infested."
Goonergeezer: and we shall pick an area to start training in bows as well, as you well know Cadwal, an army is only as good as the soldiers it commands
chris107: But to arm the scum?...
Goonergeezer: "we shall speak with Aldrun and set up a work camp in the mines
chris107: Even C's dull brain has visions of long bow armed peasants shooting their betters off their war horses...
Smon: Sir Hugh listens to Sir Garrick's plans and sighs again: "The Baron of Aldrun is with the Earl on campaign, surely all must wait until their return..." A manservant comes in looking slightly flustered. "Steward Garrick, two visitors have arrived. A Miss Lana Greenvale to see you, and a fellow who calls himself Thornstag, who wishes to see Miss Starling.."
Goonergeezer: "Cadwal! these people are as much Kallent citizens as we are, without them what would we have?..... empty fields and chaos
chris107: C looks put out at the idea someone is here to see Miss Starling AKA - Mrs. Cadwal.
Smon: Master Serjeant Pyke nods at Garrick's words of praise for the yeomen.
Goonergeezer: "Please show Miss Greenvale to a room and tell her i shall be with her as soon as i can, see she if offered all the hospitality that Kallent can provide"
Smon: "And Mr Thornstag?"
Goonergeezer: "Cadwal, please retire and speak to your intended, see if she knows this Thornstagg, and what their relationship is, then report back to us, Sqire tell Mr Thornstagg we shall be with him shortly"
chris107: C does as advised...
Smon: The servant nods. "Aye, my lord." Cadwal gets up. Helen: "I'll go with you Cadwal."
Goonergeezer: If we do not plan to start nationsl service then the idea of trying to increase the birth rate is not needed"
chris107: C blushes.
chris107: 2 mins gus, getting v dark need some light!
Goonergeezer: "let us, set up that which we have agreed upon and set a follow-up meeting for 6 months from now to see how things are going along"
Smon: Helen escorts Cadwal to her quarters, where Cassandra is staying. Cassandra's not there, an old maid informs them that Cassandra, young Tabitha and Maria Kallent are partaking of the newly installed Yggsburgh Bathing Pool down in the lower halls.
Smon: Hugh shrugs: "I expect the Earl will be back in a few months, anyway..." He doesn't look happy.
Goonergeezer: "Hugh, speak your mind, do not let it fester like a pustulent boil in need of a lancing"
chris107: Gosh, Winter sems to have arrived here in the North
chris107: C perks up at the idea of bathing
Smon: Hugh glances at Garrick, clearly somewhat reticent. "Garrick... You know I love you like a brother. You saved my life, for one thing. But with this, you go beyond a Steward's mandate."
Goonergeezer: "i seek only to protect Kallent from all who might try to make her a vassal state, am i wrong in wanting us to remain powerful?"
Smon: Helen sees the expression on Cadwal's face and grins impishly. "I hear from Tabitha that in Yggsburgh men and women bathe together! Quite scurrilous of course..." she smiles.
Goonergeezer: "Did i not call a meeting to discuss these matters instead of just bringing them about! yet you but all accus eme of becoming some sort of tyrant!"
chris107: "Tally Ho!" C heads off to grab his Speedo's
Smon: Hugh glances round the table at the other men, as if seeking support. "Powerful? Yes - but our power comes from honourable service, freely given. Free men - knights and yeomen both, whatever Cadwal might say."
Smon: Helen looks after Cadwal's retreating back, "Well I suppose I do have a bathing costume somewhere..." she murmurs, half to herself.
Goonergeezer: !and do you think that if a farm worker loses his son on a battlefield through no training it hurts them any less than a noble?"
Goonergeezer: "all i seek to do is to train them so if they are called upon he may last not only the battle, but the entire war"
Smon: Sir Hugh wipes a bead of sweat from his brow. "Training - training is good, aye. Perhaps the existing system of service should be formalised. We don't want to be like Herdley, unable to mobilise in a crisis..."
Smon: Bowmaster Griswold speaks for the first time: "Give the best men longbows and raise a bow cadre, tell the yeomen they must practice weekly with the bow and be ready take their forty days as archers."
chris107: (As it happens c has no issue with the Yeomanry. Just the peasantry)
Smon: Hugh: "But any such plans must be set before the Earl."
Goonergeezer: "Thank you Griswold, sound advice, we shall act upon it"
Smon: Cadwal puts on a natty lime-green loincloth, grabs a towel and heads to the bathing pool in the lower halls - surprisingly warm, for Castle Kallent sits above the hot springs that legend says attracted the Red Drake Vermithrag here, three centuries ago.
Goonergeezer: "then when the Earl returns, if he is not pleased by my action then let him be the one to punish me accordingly, as your betters judged you"
Smon: Hugh looks up. "We should write to him. We can have a reply within a few days."
Goonergeezer: "If that would ease your worries, then feel free to do so"
chris107: C leaps manfully into the baths. Displaying his ample half elven charms that will outlast his human
chris107: fellows.
Smon: Cadwal passes through the white-panelled antechamber to the bathpool, and sees the very surprised expressions on the faces of Tabitha, Maria and Cassandra as he dives in.
Smon: The ladies shriek as the hot water splashes them.
chris107: "Haw-haw!"
Smon: Tabitha: "Cadwal!" she yells playfully.
chris107: Splish-splash!
chris107: All worries about long bow armed peasants forgotten.
Smon: Lady Helen comes in shortly behind Cadwal, attired in a loincloth & halter bathing suit; the other ladies are nude, and sink below the foamy water not to display their charms too amply.
Smon: Helen: "I told Cadwal you were down here..." GM: Cadwal make a CHA check please
chris107 rolls 1d20 and gets: 16,
chris107:
Smon: Sir Hugh rises from the table. "Aye. I'll write to him now."
Smon: Cassandra looks more shocked than happy at being dive-bombed by the large-packaged young knight.
Smon: Hugh: "If you'll excuse me..."
chris107: Tough, C is having a ball
Goonergeezer: "Yes Sir Hugh, leave me now"
Smon: Cadwal relaxes, enjoying the hot spring fed waters. Helen nudges him. "Um. you had something to relate..."
chris107: (As only the upper classes can without worrying)
Smon: Hugh nods to the company and withdraws.
chris107: "Oh gosh yes."
chris107: "Cassie dearest of my heart. There's some wretched chap here to see you. Staggy something? I'm sure he can't know you. Quite lower class I'd say..."
Smon: Cassandra looks puzzled for a moment. "Staggy? I don't think I know anyone of that name."
chris107: "Chum of your pal Sweet thingie I think..."
Smon: Upstairs in the meeting hall, Fr Thadeus also rises. "Well Steward Garrick, don't let us keep you from meeting Miss Greenvale. I hear she was quite the heroine on your mission."
Smon: Cassandra still looks puzzled, then her mouth drops open: "Oh! Dame Heather Flowerbrook did say something a few weeks back about suitors for me - one of them was her cousin, Thornstag. You don't think he's here *now*?"
chris107: "Suitors?" C looks very put out...
Smon: Cassie is so low in the water, which would naturally come to the lower ribs, that her chin is nearly touching the foam.
Goonergeezer: "she was father, indeed , if you would all excuse me" Garrick turns and leaves the room to meet with Lana
Smon: GM: Garrick finds Lana in a guest room adjacent to Shade's quarters, admiring the window view over the outer courtyard. She turns as he enters; she's wearing a new jerkin of ringmail.
Smon: Lana: "Sir Garrick!" she smiles.
Goonergeezer: "Lana it is good to see you well again, how may i be of assistance to you?"
Smon: Garrick can see a healed scar on her neck, where the ghoul savaged her.
Smon: Lana looks nervous. "You said when I was healed, to seek you out for work... Well I'm here. My boat is hitched at Midgrove. Talking of which..."
Smon: Lana glances back out the window. "You have a school of, what, fifty girls there, right on the river? Most of them boarders. And all the guards are away south on campaign... I won't be the only one has noticed."
Smon: She looks back. "When I arrived, I saw two men at the Basket of Pears, the big coaching inn. Two of Gold Hal's men... They recognised me, too."
Goonergeezer: "My God! did no-one think of that when they called the soldiers away, do you have a crew aboard your boat?"
Smon: Lana nods. "I picked up three men down in Herdley. One of them is a soldier the Earl lent me, a Corporal Middens, the other two Herdleymen sailors."
Goonergeezer: Grab a bite to eat, i need to speak to another man then we shall send a guard with you and recue those poor ladies before something terrible ashou;ld happen to them"
Goonergeezer: garrick gets up and leaves, ordering a servant to find Cadwal and the Starling woman and to ask helen to accompany them so we may see this Thornstagg fellow"
Smon: Lana nods: "They were probably scouting - and they likely saw what I saw."
Smon: Lana nods. "I'll see what I can get from the kitchen..."
Smon: GM: Midgrove is 2 miles from the castle as the crow flies, nearly 4 by road.
Smon: On your side of the river of course,
chris107: "Tally Ho!"
Goonergeezer: on his way garrick shouts for anothert servant to ready 6 fresh horses for travel immediatley
Smon: (Blogger won't let me update the Central Kallent page http://smonsyggsburgh.blogspot.co.uk/2012/08/the-village-of-midgrove-county-kallent.html so I've had to stick new stuff on the Nobles page *sigh*)
Goonergeezer: (Chiswick, Fresh horses,)
Goonergeezer: (how long would it take to put his plate on?)
Smon: A manservant enters the bath chamber, blushing at the display of feminine pulchritude as he announces that Helen, Cassandra & Cadwal are summoned by the Steward.
chris107:
Smon: Garrick can take a few minutes to get attired in his armour, aided by servants.
Goonergeezer: (k)
Smon: (20 more minutes then I'm afk 30 min or so)
chris107: "i guess we'd better go girlies? )
Goonergeezer: Garrick orders another servant to call on Sir Hugh, Shade and Cadwal and to readfy their armour too"
Smon: Helen stands. Cassandra also stands, blushing as she's stark naked, the first time Cadwal has had a look at his future bride's assets.
chris107: C makes sure he dries between his toes so as not to catch cold.
Smon: LOL
chris107: "Gosh Cassie........"
Smon: Helen: "Here Cassandra, a bathrobe..." she robes Cassie with a slight smile to Cadwal.
chris107: he beams delightedly.
Smon: In the bath, Tabitha and Maria just giggle.
Smon: Make a CHA check Cadwal
chris107 rolls 1d20 and gets: 14,
chris107: pass
Smon: (finally!) Cassadra is still red-faced, but manages a shy smile at Cadwal.
chris107: (I knew I put a 14 in Charisma for some reason!)
Smon: GM: Moving on... Ten minutes later, now all appropriately dressed, Garrick Cadwal Shade Hugh Cassandra & Helen gather in the courtroom.
Smon: The knights are armoured per Garrick's instructions.
chris107: (Armoured up?)
chris107:
Smon: Helen & Cassandra are in day robes.
Smon: Hugh: "Anyone know thisThornstag fellow?"
Smon: Cassandra: "It's Dame Heather's cousin... She said he was a great hero..." she says, uncertainly.
Goonergeezer: "Helen, can you take Cassandra here and go to iron out this Thornstag situation?"
chris107:
chris107: C hones the edges of his HUGE weapon....
Goonergeezer: (is Lana here too?)
Smon: Helen: "You want me to receive him, Garrick?"
Smon: (did you summon Lana?)
chris107: P'rhaps best lady Hell suggests Cadwal.
Goonergeezer: "Yes Helen, you are the best suited here to the task, i fear if it were one of us he would take great offence, whereas from your sweet lips the blow would be softened
Smon: Helen nods. The butler speaks up: "Mr Thornstag is waiting in the reception chamber, milady."
Goonergeezer: (sorry yea, i meant to summon lana too, if i didnt i will do so now"
Smon: Helen: "So, he is a would-be suitor, and I am to tell him that Cassandra is already engaged?"
Smon: Lana Greenvale enters the chamber, nodding to all. "My lords."
chris107: C just looks on frostily................
Goonergeezer: "I fear he does not yet know of Sweetreed's passing, he was as much orchestrating this marrage as was anyone, with his passing many issues were not addressed or information passed on"
chris107: "if this Staggy fellow has some former claim?......"
chris107: "As a gentleman I will of course retire....."
Goonergeezer: "Cadwal, do not fret, i am sure Lady Helen will get to the bottom of this"
Goonergeezer: "Perhaps you could duel this fellow for the ladies hand?"
Smon: Helen looks troubled.
chris107: C blushes furiously at the mention of Lady Hell's bottom.
Smon: Helen: "Very well. Come with me Cassandra, we'll go disappoint your new suitor."
chris107: "If that's what it will take. Of course."
Smon: Cassandra takes Helen's hand and the two ladies depart the courtroom.
Goonergeezer: "Helen! Perhaps both of the men could woo cassandra, and we let the lady decide?"
chris107: C gives his cousin a frosty look.
Goonergeezer: "you know matter of the court far better than i, if i leave this matter in your hands and you do as you see fit?"
Smon: Reaction check for Thornstag, luckily Helen has CHA 15...
Smon: /roll 1d100+15
Smon rolls 1d100+15 and gets: 62, (+15) = 77
Smon: Lucky
Goonergeezer: "Cadwal, i know you to be the far better man, i am sure there will be no contest with the Lady Cassandra"
Smon: You REALLY didn't want to get "Hostile, Immediate Action"
chris107: C was ready to deal with the oik however was needed.
Goonergeezer: "Mount up men, we must ride all haste to rescue damsals in distress!"
chris107: "Tally Ho!"
chris107: "Hold on Cassie! I'll be right back! "
Smon: GM: Helen and Casandra return after fifteen minutes. Helen: "He didn't look very happy... He said a lot about leaving his great battle with the Drune Lord Horst Reindmann to come all this way for Cassandra, and how we didn't understand the great honour of him proposing to Cassandra..."
Smon: Helen: "Anyway, then he turned into an eagle and flew out the window."
chris107: "Bugger him." Suggests cadal?..
Smon: (AFK now - Be back ca 9.30pm)
Goonergeezer: "I fear it may be something that will come back tpo haunt us in the future"
chris107: Food time then
Goonergeezer: coffeee

chris107: Hi Graham
Goonergeezer: heya
Goonergeezer: ok we started off in a meeting discussing my ideas for the state, lots of concessions were made and some of the ideas are being set up in a small area for a trial period....
Goonergeezer: a guy called thornstagg has turned up, apparently he was one of the suitors for the lady cassandra, we didnt know tho, he has gone on his way but is pissed off by it
chris107: (tough )
Goonergeezer: and Midgrove finoishing achool ofr girls (where tyhe wealthy andf important girls of Kallent are educated b4 moving on to yggsburgh has had its soldiers taken away to servew ibn the war, pirates have been checking out the area so we are on a rescue mission to get there befoer the pirates do and rescue all the ladies and get them back here
Goonergeezer: i think thats about it
Amalric: oh cool, sounds like a nice day out
Amalric: for a single man
Amalric: mind you, that'll mean a few more nat 20s for me when looking for low scores
chris107:
Goonergeezer rolls 1d20+1 and gets: 11, (+1) = 12
Goonergeezer rolls 1d4+2 and gets: 3, (+2) = 5
chris107: Cadwel will equip himself with a lance before we gallop off on our warhorses to rescue the damsels.
Goonergeezer: that was for Emetrix's game
chris107: (Nice guy)
Goonergeezer: (Kobold bashing)
chris107: (Is always fun. The joys of playing a single classed Gnome Kobold bashing fighter can not be overstated )
Goonergeezer: (close, single classed dwarven kobold bashing fighter)
chris107: (Better levels but lack the nasal charm of a Gnome)
chris107: (My second character in Bochi's dark Tower game, Heidi Kekkisdouter is a first level LG Gnome fighter. Prefer her to the 10th level Druid main character!
Amalric: ("Gnomes suck eggs" was a popular refrain during games when i was in my teens, in our group. not sure why)
Goonergeezer: (i have to say i am not really enjoying PbP very much )
chris107: (I can't make the pbp work )
Amalric: (not for everyone, for sure. i like the slow pace for the most part, but some times you just lose your focus, and forget to post)
Amalric: (takes quite a commitment)
chris107: (No really, I just can't make it work. Won't let me post )
chris107: But I'm pretty rubbish with computers.
Goonergeezer: (i just had a little bit by Pm, and that was enjoyable, but for the most part it feels a little too detached for me, I'm gonna stick it out tho, i might start enjoying it more)
chris107: an Emetix is a cool guy
chris107: (For a Scot )
Goonergeezer: yea everyone seems alright, one guy got a little bit annoying for a while
chris107: "That's Life" as Mr. Sinatra says...
Amalric: (For a Scot!? What whit yer sayin', laddie! ;))
Goonergeezer: indeed, you cant expect to get on with everyone all of the time
Amalric: (one guy? i wonder who...LOL)
Goonergeezer: (scot?? thats a dwarf accent)
chris107:
Goonergeezer: (im not gonna mention any names, but im pretty sure you know who im on about lol)
Goonergeezer: (im prob not the only one he peeved off lol
Amalric: no, you're not. just glad i'm not Emetix!
Amalric: Emetix is called Doug. random fact
chris107: Doug is a good old Scot's name.
Smon: (hi all, can't get boy to sleep so lying beside him w computer now)
Goonergeezer: a ducks quack does not echo. another one for you
Goonergeezer:
chris107: (I find a healthy dose of Gin helps them sleep Simon )
chris107: (About a pint)
chris107: The horses... Are they warhorses or riding horses?
Amalric: (Graham isn't much of a Scot's name, but that's parents for you)
Smon: GM: You have a dozen light warhorses in the stables, you can mount up and head for Midgrove.
Smon: If you bring 6 men that's half of your castle guard of 12+Sjt Pyke.
Smon: (Boy seems fine w me typing beside him, I guess in future I'll do that from 9.30pm and save 25 mins!)
chris107: (@ Smon, is my lance proficiency lance and the type depends upon the mount or is it 'Heavy Lance'?)
Smon: All lances.
Goonergeezer: we will take 4 men plus those named people, leave the rest in the castle
Smon: Likewise x-bow covers all x-bows, mace all maces etc
chris107: "Should we leave the castle so unguarded cousin?"
Smon: So Garrick Cadwal Shade Hugh & 4 men to go?
Goonergeezer: "you think it should be just us four lad?"
Goonergeezer: us and 2 men plus lana
Smon: Lana: "OK if I sit behind someone? I'm the worst rider you ever saw."
chris107: "We can handle whatever the girls face. We must not leave our home and beloved's at risk"
Goonergeezer: "Sit behind me Lana"
Amalric: (my younger girl was 6 today. she's been excited for about 3 weeks, and was up at the crack of dawn today. hopefully she's done for the night)
chris107:
Smon: B)
Smon: (my boy's 6 too!)
Smon: (& he's enormous & scary in his new Rugby shirt!)
chris107:
chris107: England?
Smon: (No, it's school uniform) Lana mounts up behind Garrick, gripping tight to his armoured chest. The ladies come out to see you depart, the sight of Lana gripping Garrick eliciting a slightly worried look from young Tabitha.
chris107: "Tally Ho!"
chris107: "Back soon best girl!"
Smon: Maria Kallent chatters nervouslt: "I'm glad I come home most nights, I couldn't stand to be captured by pirates, I'd surely die..."
chris107: .....
Goonergeezer: "Worry not my love, it is best she ride with me, i am the best horseman after all" with that he digs his heels into the horses flank and sends her gallopping off towards midgrove"!
Smon: Helen shushes her and waves to Cadwal, as after a moment's hesitation does Cassandra.
Smon: Tabitha nods and smiles to her husband. "Yes of course, my love."
Smon: You ride out down the steep castle track to the valley below, and reach Midgrove at a canter twenty minutes later, the horses sweating.
Smon: Sir Hugh nods to Cadwal. "Good to feel a good filly between your legs, eh Cadwal?"
Goonergeezer: "lana go ready your boat, we will be with you shortly"
Smon: Everything in Midgrove seems peaceful, Lana nods to Garrick and dismounts, heading for the docks.
Goonergeezer: "come let us get to the school quickly, i do not wish these ladies to be at risk for long"
chris107: "Haha Yes Sir Hugh!"
Smon: At St Trinia's you can see through the Hall windows that the boarding girls, which is most of them, are partaking of their evening meal under the gaze of the headmistress and tutors.
Smon: Hugh grins back at Cadwal.
Goonergeezer: "Stand guard here men, shade scout the area, cadwal with me"
Amalric: "Why do I get all the dull jobs?" mutters Shade, but goes off to scout anyway
Goonergeezer: Garrick Knocks three times on the doors of the school"
Smon: Hugh grins at Shade.
Smon: After a pause the door is opened by a very attractive, dark-haired female slave in halter top, collar, sandals & loincloth. "Yes, masters?" http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2012/214/1/2/yaleeja_by_fransmensinkartist-d59iiq5.jpg - her w even less clothes
Smon: She has a sort of mortar-board hat on her head, a sign she's a Tutor.
Goonergeezer: "We need to speak to the Headmistress Immediatley"
chris107: "Here to rescue the totty dear."
Smon: Make CHA checks both of you.
Goonergeezer: "Tell her Garrick of Kallent is here"
Goonergeezer rolls 1d20 and gets: 18,
Goonergeezer: Fail!
Smon: Shade scouts around the grounds of the school, and is immediately approached by a very large, hairy, red-bearded man...
Amalric: "What ho! Me old cock sparra..."
Smon: She looks at Garrick. "The Headmistress cannot be disturbed until after supper."
Smon: (You gonna roll chris?)
Smon: The big man nods at Shade. "Who're ye, me feller?"
Amalric: "I'm the new gardener. Where's the tool shed?"
Smon: heh. CHA check but -4 to your CHA.
Amalric rolls 1d20 and gets: 3,
Smon: LOL
Amalric: success
Smon: The man blinks. "I'm Wulfred, groundskeeper here. I nae heard tell o' no new gardner!"
Smon: He waves towards a shed over by a playing field.
Smon: "What yer lookin' fer?"
Amalric: "Oh don't worry, I'm just here for training. Folks up in Yggsburgh wanted to send me down here, learn from a true professional..."
Smon: /roll 1d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 4,
Goonergeezer: "I am afraid i must insist" garrick brushes her aside and enters the door then turns "This is a matter of great importance, fetch the headmistress now"
Smon: Wulfred nods, apparently satisfied. "Oh aye, Eggsburgh, I heard tell o' that place."
Smon: Garrick pushes the slave girl aside as he enters, causing her to stagger back with a scowl.
Smon: "I - I will go inform her Garrick of Kallent is here."
Amalric: "Mind if I take a tour of the grounds? Been any trouble down this way recently?"
Smon: /roll 1d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 1,
Smon: Wulfred nods. "Aye! Two chappies loiterin' around just this afternoon! I saw em off awright!"
chris107: "S'cuse us dear, totty to protect and all that "
Smon: "They wuz leerin' at the girls playin' hockey! I know their sort! Boatmen! He spits."
Amalric: "Good man! They big blokes, like yourself, or little sneaky bastards?" Shade doesn't add "like me"
chris107: C displays his HUGE weapon to it's best effect.
Smon: Wulfred looks thoughtful: "Aye... Medium-size sneaky bastards, I'd say!"
Smon: In the school building the slave girl hurries off, leaving the two knights standing in the hall.
Amalric: "Where did they slope off to? Which direction? Just want to be sure to keep an eye out, you know..."
Smon: /roll 1d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 10,
chris107: (Alistaire Simms?)
Goonergeezer: (where is flash Harry?)
Smon: Wulfred: "Hm - reckon they headed that away..." he points north-east along the riverbank.
chris107: (GC is a cool guy, got him very drunk on many occasions )
Smon: GC?
chris107: (George Cole)
Smon: Cool
Amalric: no, Cole
Smon:
Amalric: Shade walks over toward the north-east and stops, looking into the distance. if he sees no signs of life he'll tell Wulfred he's taking a tour of the grounds
Smon: After a lengthy wait Garrick and Cadwal see the Headmistress of St Trinia's approaching regally, accompanied by the slave tutor.
Goonergeezer: (is it possible to get to the castle from here by river?)
Smon: Shade just sees some birds circling over the river a good ways off. Trees block sight of the river itself.
Smon: Map - https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_W_C0lbpT3HwbXlpVMMW_rs6p7EX4HJARF-7m1Rwcu8_mgACasu9fVaWQQpT7oXL7e7PMApynsycrxiQm6qIp7TM1Eze_s9l66xpHtO3eZYRfA5qjfOoFr7buUEexyOZ2Kitpv8KFvINX/s1600/Castle+Kallent+environs.bmp
Smon: The castle is 2 miles from the river, so no.
Smon: "I am Miss Marilyn Maidstone, headmistress of this institution!" she proclaims. "To what do I owe the pleasure of this visit, good sir knights?"
Goonergeezer: "Ah headmistress, finally, i bring urgewnt news for you, if we could talk in private?"
chris107: "'vning madam, here to rescue the to... girld from impending doom."
chris107: girls
Smon: "I trust this slave girl implicitly. But yes you may dismiss your charming companion... Impending doom, you say?!" her eyes widen.
chris107: "Gosh yes! In the form of great hairy asssss..... great big pirates."
Smon: Shade begins touring the grounds.
Smon: /roll 1d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 2,
Amalric: Shade works his way back around to the front door, and waits
Smon: Shade soons finds muddy footprints heading north, over a low stone wall that marks the north edge of the school grounds.
Goonergeezer: "The Pirate Known as Gold Hal has had spies studying the school, since your guards are away doing their duty, we are escorting you back to our castle for protection"
Smon: "A great hairy ass?! Oh my! I feel quite faint!" Miss Maidstone flutters a kerchief to her brow.
chris107: "Yup c'mon old girl. Hop to it."
Smon: "Leave?! We can't possibly leave the school! Won't the castle send guards to protect us?"
chris107: "maidens to rescue 'n all that."
chris107: "grab the silver wear and we're away. Wouldn't want the young ladies been molested now would we?"
chris107: (Just grab a couple of paracetamol brb)
Smon: "None of my young ladies have *ever* been molested, I assure you! Quite unthinkable!"
Amalric: Shade waits for the tanks to emerge
Goonergeezer: "it has been ordered that you should accompany me to the castle, we can better protect you there, do you have any carrages and horses here?
Smon: Shade can see Hugh and your two guardsmen standing with the horses at the gate to the school grounds, looking bored.
chris107: back
Smon: "Well I have my personal carriage of course, but really! We have nearly fifty girls here! What do you expect them to do - walk?! They are the creme de la creme!"
Amalric: Shade walks up to Hugh and tells him what he has found
chris107: "good poiny Cous...."
Smon: Hugh listens to the tale. Lana listens too. "Birds over the river?"
chris107: "Can't see the lovely's walk all the way back..."
Smon: (Lana came back)
Amalric: (she's always welcome
Goonergeezer: Those who are firstborn will travel witha guard to kallent, those of later issue will be transported by boat to Castle Aldrun" garrick turns to Cadwal, thats on the river isnt it Cadwal?"
Smon: Miss Maidstone smiles warmly at Cadwal, who she seems to have taken a liking too.
chris107: C looks blank but nods...
Amalric: (one of several babes that Shade has failed a CHA check with - sure that original CHA 4 still haunts him!)
chris107: I'll look after the little dears....
Smon: (GM: Yes castle Aldrun is up the Aldrun river, a tributary of the Nemo navigable by barge)
chris107: "But is it wise to split up Cous?"
Smon: Miss Maidstone considers: "But for how long? The term has barely begun!"
chris107: Shouldn't we just herd the little darlings back to the casa?"
Goonergeezer: Garrick will draw up a list with the headmaster of who will be travelling to aldrun and Kallent (most important to kallent)
Goonergeezer: "I am sure this will only take a short amount of time, before school rtesumes"
chris107: "Miss maidstone my old fruit. Rather miss a few lessons than let the hairy pirates have their way?"
Smon: Miss Maidstone: "Perhaps in the circumstances the girls should sleep in secure accommodation, for now? If you round up all the wagons in Midgrove..."
Goonergeezer: "Miss Maidstone, how defencable is this house and do you have any Safe-Rooms?"
Smon: "The important thing is that lessons are not interrupted... Yes the school building is quite well-fortified, thank you. In extremis the girls are trained to drop stones from the roof embrasures!"
Goonergeezer: Cadwal tell sir Hugh to round up as many wagons as he can, we need to transport fifty odd girls"
Smon: (wife back, brb)
Goonergeezer: "Miss Maidstone, we will transport as many as is possible with a guard, if there are any remaining they shall go by ship to castle aldrun, that is my decision, prepare the girls immediatley"
chris107: "Hugh my old chum, get some rolling stock for the Totty, quick as you like..."
Smon: Miss Maidstone: "I suppose in extremis lessons could be held in the castle..."
Smon: Hugh nods, and goes with the men to start rounding up drovers.
chris107: "Chivy-chivy Miss M!"
Smon: Half an hour later, night has fallen but you have assembled eight wagons, enough for nearly all the girls; the few remaining can ride behind yon gallant knights & the 2 guardsmen.
Amalric: "Anything else needing done?" asks Shade. he informs G and C of his findings, both the footprints and the intruders
Smon: Miss Maidstone, her mistresses and slave tutors, are in the coach, driven by Wulfred.
chris107: Has Miss M gathered the hocky trophies and such? Cant leave loot for the villians.
Smon: Miss Maidstone: "Wulfred will take us to the castle then return here to keep the school secure."
Goonergeezer: "Keep out of sight Shade and come to the rescue when all seems lost" Garrick gives shade a Cheerful slap on the back and lets out a little laugh
Smon: There are cases atop the coach, yes.
chris107: "Tally Ho!"
Smon: Lana has been away. Now as your convoy is about to set off for the castle she returns, looking thoughtful. "Sir Garrick, shall I return with you?"
Smon: She eyes the busty blonde schoolgirl now clinging to Garrick atop his steed.
Goonergeezer: "Yes Lana, i have a proposal for you and your ship, we wil talk Once we have the ladies safe"
chris107: (C, hopes the 'gals get back safely but secretly would love to see them watch him joust a few hairy assed prates to destruction.)
Amalric: "You can ride with me, Lana"
Smon: Lana looks around, noting that all the knights' horses are already double-occupied, then hears Shade's offer and nods gratefully. "Thanks Shade."
Amalric: Shade resists the temptation to ask Lana to sit in front
Goonergeezer: "Let us make all haste, Lets get these girls back to safety"
chris107: Any sign off pirates or other baddies?
Smon: Lana's hands go around Shade's chest, and off you go, much slower this time. The girl gripping Garrick chatters for most of the trip - her name's Carol, she's from Grane, her daddy is a rich merchant... No sign of pirates that you see, and nearly two hours later it's coming up to 9pm when you mount the castle track and the gates are opened to let in your convoy.
Smon: The castle is a hive of activity as the scores of schoolgirls pour out of their wagons. Even Dame Gertrude makes an appearance, apparently she and Miss Maidstone are friends...
chris107: No sign of the beastly Staggy? Hovering about the lovely Cassie?
Smon: /roll 1d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 5,
chris107: (Of the sensible shoe persuasion no doubt)
Smon: Cadwal looks around, but sees no sign of druid or eagle.
Smon: LOL
Smon: (sorry, took me a moment)
Amalric: (we're not even allowed to say 'dyke' any more, its 'women in comfortable shoes')
chris107: ( )
Smon: Dame Gertrude approaches Garrick: "There are not enough guest quarters for so many! What is to be done?!"
Goonergeezer: "Dame Gertrude, good evening, i am sorry to bring all this chaos to the castle but i feared for the girls and thought here would be best for them"
chris107: "Virtue must be protected Aunt Gertie?"
Smon: Dame Gertrude nods, eyeing the courtyard full of teenage girls. "Yes, of course Sir Garrick. I quite understand..."
Goonergeezer: "I am sure with a little shuffleing here and there we can fit them all in, after all most of our men are away at the moment, i am sure a barracks set aside will be fine for the ladies"
chris107: C thinks (uncharitably) "Let Aunt Gertie among the hairy arsed pirates and they's soon rout!"
Smon: Helen Kallent looks over the crowd. "Some chambers are vacant while so many are at war. And we can double-up, put girls here and there..."
Smon: Helen nods to Garrick. "Indeed, we think alike Steward, I see you don't need my advice!" she grins.
Amalric: "Plenty of room in the barracks I'm in..."
Smon: Shade make a CHA check
Smon: will he ever get lucky!]
Amalric rolls 1d20 and gets: 2,
chris107: "Helly dear where is Cassie? I see her not "
Amalric: on fire tonight!
chris107:
Smon: Helen: "Cassandra's with Maria and Tabitha... over there!" she points, where the three are talking to some friends of Maria's.
chris107: (All is good then. i thought the dreadful Staggy may have 'maged' her away)
chris107: (charm Person or Cassandra....)
Smon: Carol, the busty blonde who was riding with Garrick, overhears Shade and now smiles at Shade, drawing over two friends, a shapely redhead and a leggy short-haired blonde. "Oh yes, we'd be happy to stay with you, sir!" Dame Gertrude harumphs.
Smon: (@chris like I said, good thing that Helen is so diplomatic and rolled high on Reaction roll too!)
Goonergeezer: Garrick turn to Lara "if we were to hire you a fighting crew would you sail the waters of Kallent and seek out all pirate activity and squash it under your heel with maximum force?"
Amalric: "My pleasure, ladies. Always willing to come to the aid of damsels in distress..."
chris107: "Tally Ho Mr. Shade!"
Smon: Lana nods to Garrick. "Aye, with a dozen men or so I could deal with light raiders like we saw on the river. Not Gold Hal, though..." she pulls Garrick close and whispers. "I think I saw his boat on the river, not a mile north of Midgrove!"
Amalric: "I've been...conserving my energy...for just such endeavours"
Amalric: (need to call it a night!)
chris107: Quick top up brb
chris107: Ah...
Goonergeezer: "what would you need to deal with Hal, or at least make him think carefully about leaving here for easier pickings?"
chris107: Until next week then?
Smon: Miss Maidstone is fussing around trying to organise the girls into groups, not helped much by the castle servants and remaining guards - but it looks like you'll get everyone squared away eventually without having to bunk any young ladies in the great hall or kitchen floor.
Goonergeezer: indeed, next week is good
chris107: Cadwal's HUGE weapon will deal with Hal.
Amalric: same here, should be on time next week
Smon: (ok, I'll do Lana reply etc pbp)
chris107: Thanks for the game Simon/Chaps
Smon: (& I have a better idea how to handle critter bedtime now)

Amalric: can I roll my levell 4 hp for Shade, before i forget?
Goonergeezer: ok, ty all good game, see ya all soon and good night
chris107: See you next week.
Smon: 300 XP Cadwal & Garrick, 250 Shade as late.
Amalric rolls 1d6 and gets: 6,
Smon: cool roll!
Amalric: BING!
Smon: I'll post log now.
10:15pm  2013-9-04 Goonergeezer Has exited the room
