6:03pm  2013-9-25 Goonergeezer Has entered the room
Goonergeezer: heya
Goonergeezer: chris just gone to get a drink or darnie i think
Goonergeezer: sarnie
Smon: Hiya
Smon: ok
Smon: I need to chill a few mins anyway
6:05pm  2013-9-25 Amalric Has entered the room
Amalric: fair evensong!
6:06pm  2013-9-25 chris107 Has entered the room
Smon: Hi all
Goonergeezer: evening
chris107: Evening
Amalric: beat you by 60 seconds chris
Smon: Before we start tonight I was thinking might be a good idea to talk a bit about what your PC plans are - may change of course.
Smon: Ken posted -http://smonsyggsburgh.blogspot.co.uk/2013/09/session-43-3010-511-return-to-yggsburgh.html#comment-form
chris107: Fabian is hoping to milk the Purple Tower for as many spells as he kan. Trading information for magic.
chris107: Making himself useful in return for magical spells.
Amalric: Shade is...of uncertain motive at this time
Amalric: i really need to put down some ideas/goals that i've had for him
chris107: And using his current standing with young Hawkes to advance his social standing.
chris107: Perhaps making substantial financial gains along the way.
Smon: Ken asked re Gold Hal - bounty on Hal is now at 1500 dead, 2000 alive, Rosie still 300/600.
Goonergeezer: i have been thinking about a sort of semi-retirement for Garrick, i want to carry on as a ruler type character with the occasional trip out (like the little ride we had in the country) but for general going out and adventuring maybe rolling up one of garricks followers possibly.....
Smon: You can make new PCs when you want, yup.
Goonergeezer: 2 secs
Amalric: Shade has a whole host of possibilities before him, he's not close to retirement
Amalric: not voluntary retirement, that is
Smon:  chris I was wondering if you had any ideas for Fabian joining the other PCs - might be better to PM though
chris107: Not at all - happy to play above board.
Smon:
Goonergeezer: would that be ok with you simon? to stay on as a member of the ruling class but to take a back seat, for the general everyday meat and bones hero stuff someone new?
Goonergeezer: if not i will happily carry on with him
Goonergeezer: full time
chris107: Fabian will play both sides of the fence to gain power from the Purple Tower. But would be overjoyed to finally make his own way in the world.
Smon: If you like, Ken. I do really like Garrick and he evolved as the 'tentpole' of the campaign, as it were.
Smon: I like doing the Kallent stuff but I think I'm pretty well set up to do it with more junior status PCs if you like.
Goonergeezer: i am happy to carry on with the political stuff
Smon: Are you guys ok with my halving of NPC level demographics from the AD&D standard, BTW? It means your PCs are more important but it also means a more low-magic setting, fewer major magic items around.
Goonergeezer: i am fine with that
chris107: No problem here.
Smon: OK, I was looking at the NPCs in the free Temple of Elemental Evil download a couple days ago and thinking "jeez, they sure have a lot of powerful magic items!"
Amalric: nor here
Smon: That was how I used to run AD&D back in the '80s, a player reminisced that by 6th level he had an AC well into the negatives.
Smon: I like the lower-magic feel these days though.
Amalric: same here, really
Smon: "Thrin had an Armour Class of -10 at 6th-level (Full Platemail +2, Cloak of Protection +3, Dexterity 16, Ring of Protection +3, Boots of Striding and Springing) which I am sure was slightly above the norm." -http://immortalshandbook.com/shrine.htm
Smon: brb
Goonergeezer: yep, late 80's early 90's had a seperate a4 maghic sheet
chris107: There's only a +1 sword so far though, right?
Amalric: i just enjoy the campaign as is. its not like "you kill the dragon, its hoard includes 3 +2 swords and the Machine of Lum the Mad"
Goonergeezer: same here i like the fact that if we come across a +1 item its stilll really useful
chris107: And pretty sure the Wilderland's game only had Moffet's +1 short sword too. That's pretty low magic.
Amalric: and cloaks and rings of protection don't work in conjunction with magic armor
chris107: Redstar is stuffed full of magic by comparison to my usual game.
Smon: critter lost wiimote, had to find it sigh
Smon: " just enjoy the campaign as is. its not like "you kill the dragon, its hoard includes 3 +2 swords and the Machine of Lum the Mad"" - Well if you ever did kill a dragon it might have some stuff  - There are a few major items in the campaign such as the Sword of Kal, but they tend to already be owned by powerful people,
Amalric: true dat
Smon: BTW Amalric rem Shade has a bunch of magic potions from the Castle Herdley vaults.
Amalric: i know, i tend to forget until i check his char sheet!
Smon:  http://smonsyggsburgh.blogspot.co.uk/2012/08/book-2-player-characters.html
Smon: OK, reckon I'll get started.
Smon: GM: >>Ulrich: "You'll take our proposal to Baron Redfort?" Smon: Tal shrugs. "Of course. But I doubt you'll get an answer before that important council meeting in two days... Baron Lyle will have to think hard whether the fourth-born daughter of Kallent is such a prize." chris107: (Ouch!) Smon: Ulrich's expression darkens.<<
Smon: Did you wish to respond to Mr Colton?
Amalric: (eating tea)
Smon: (guess I'll make some toast for me dinner then!) brb
chris107: (Have I missed something?)
Amalric: I don't know. do we want to say anything? encourage? threaten? something else?
Smon: (toast is toasting)
Goonergeezer: "Sir we put this propoasl to you, because we feel that together we could offer this land a great deal, perhaps if your lord does not wish to unite our great nations then the prize could always be offered to Egar the Marquis of Talworth?
chris107: Ah from mr. Colton's answer last week?
Amalric: (yes)
Smon: Garrick roll a CHA check pls
Goonergeezer rolls 1d20 and gets: 11,
Goonergeezer: yep
Smon: Tal Colton looks thoughtful, stroking his little goatee. "Hmm... Well I'll convey that to the Baron."
chris107: (Does Septimus have any instructions?)
Smon: (Septimus wouldn't know about the meeting yet, would he?)
chris107: (Guess not, just wondered if there was anything in background.)
Smon: Colton: "I'd warn you though, Talworth would likely see your offer as an admission of weakness... Considering their slavers have targeted Kallent as much as Redfort."
Smon: (have to see how it goes, chris)
chris107: (No problem)
Smon: Ulrich: "Mr Colton, I think you're starting to see how this alliance could benefit all the Lawful realms - Yggsburgh, Redfort and Kallent, all. If the Baron Redfort could attend the Yggsburgh Council Meeting and speak in favour of an alliance, I'm sure the Council would immediately commit."
Goonergeezer: "this is true, and should Talworth act upon what they see to be an admission of weakness and invade Kallent then what would stop the war machine keep on rolling straight on to Redfort as well, neither of us are the biggest nations and it is through an alliance i seek to strengthen both of our positions against Talworth and Dunfalcon"
Smon: Colton nods to both Hawkes & Garrick. "Yes... I certainly take your point. I will speak with the Baron. At the least though I expect he'll wish to inspect Miss Maria, before he commits to wedding her... I suggest that if you wish his aid in the Council, we all should move swiftly."
Smon: Colton: "Tomorrow I will ride for Nearcliff and bring your proposal to my liege. Will you accompany me?"
Goonergeezer: "Indeed, splendid idea, If your Baron should attend the meeting perhaps all parties concerned could meet at one of Miss Wrights Famous Soirees"
Smon: Colton chuckles. "Ah, the famous Pool Parties!"
Goonergeezer: "you wish for me to accompany you tomorrow?" Garrick looks at ulrichs expression to this
Amalric: Shade merely stands smiling, though he of course knows Miss Wright
chris107: Fab listens intently
Smon: Ulrich: "I must remain here ahead of the Council meeting - I have several meetings tomorrow" Colton's eyes rest on Garrick. "Sir Kallent - your word could certainly help sway the Baron's mind."
Goonergeezer: "then i will accompany you gladly, i wish only to see peace and trade prosper between our great nations"
Smon: Colton nods. "Indeed. From Nearcliff we can send a fast messenger to fetch Maria Kallent..."
Amalric: "I will of course accompany you, Sir Garrick"
Smon: Ulrich: "She won't reach Nearcliff until the day of the Council Meeting, at best. Your times don't add up, Mr Colton."
Smon: Colton shrugs: "Then you'll need to delay the Council Meeting, Sir Hawkes. Tell them the Baron Redfort is considering your proposal. They'll wait for us."
chris107: fab will slip out to hand in 'work'. With the offer to meet later if his help is needed.
Smon: Ulrich sighs. "Thank you Mr Colton. We'll call on you at dawn tomorrow at the Outs, if we decide to follow your plan."
Smon: GM: The butler escorts Tal Colton out of the Hawkes Estate. Sir Ulrich breathes a sigh of relief when he's gone. Ulrich: "Whew... Can't say I entirely trust that fellow. What do you think, gentlemen?"
Amalric: "He is a rogue and an underhand rat of the lowest order" replies Shade, without adding "just like me"
Amalric:
chris107:
Goonergeezer: "there are few that we can completely trust, i will go with him tomorrwo but i have a favour to ask you ulrich......
Smon: Ulrich chuckles. "Well said, Mr Shade. Have some more brandy! Yes, Garrick?"
Amalric: "Don't mind if I do, thank you Sir Ulrich"
Goonergeezer: "since my friends and i will be away from kallent our defences are lower than i would like, would you be able to send a few of your most trusted men to help bolster its defences while we are away?"
chris107: (Interesting info  )
Smon: Ulrich: "Hm, well, the Hawkes estates don't maintain standing forces. I can't really call the Levy to send them so far away... Have you considered hiring at the Swordsmen's Brotherhood?"
Smon: "I mean, if you'd like me to loan you Lars Frank, I could do that..."
Goonergeezer: "i have given it some thought but i only wish to have those who can be vouched for, Lars would be ideal for the job, if you dont mind sending your man that i
Goonergeezer: s"
Smon: Ulrich shrugs. "He's a very handy fellow - he's escorting Winifred and Alicia tonight. They should all be home shortly."
Smon: "But I'm sure we can spare him for a few weeks, until your war's over."
Smon: GM @chris - you're leaving and reporting back?
Goonergeezer: "i thank you sincerely Ulrich and i know George will also be grateful that someone like lars is helping to defend his home"
chris107: (PM sent Simon)
Smon: (ok)
Smon: Ulrich grins and nods, "Aye - never any trouble when old Lars is around, eh!"
Goonergeezer: "I have never tangled with him but i'll bet he is a hard bastard when he needs to be"
Smon: Ulrich grins: "Let's just say he's not afraid to get his hands dirty. Some brandy?"
Smon: GM: You drink and chat a little, Fabian having left. Around 11.30pm Winifred, Alicia, their maids and Lars return from their soiree.
Goonergeezer: Garrick laughs at the offer "not for me, terrible stuff, just some water if you do not mind"
Smon: Shall we go to next day?
Amalric: yep!
Goonergeezer: garrick wishes to spend the night with Tabby still trying for a child"
chris107: Fab awaits instruction.
Amalric: Shade goes and knocks on Helen's door late on
Smon: GM: OK you retire for the night. Tabitha is initially in a chatty mood, but soon melts into Garrick's arms. Late at night Helen Kallent opens the door to Mr Shade in her nightgown, seeming surprised to see him.
Smon: Helen: "Oh, Mr Shade..."
Smon: (any sweet words?)
Smon: (or such?)
Smon: Or you can roll a CHA check.
Amalric: I'll go with the sweet words, who knows what fate the dice hold
Amalric: "Lady Helen, I felt I must talk with you this evening. My apologies for disturbing you at this late hour..."
Smon: Helen: "Oh, more news? You better come in, Mr Shade..." She ushers you into her room.
Amalric: Shade will update her on the day's events, and what the morrow holds, but really he's after more fun...
Amalric: he'll gaze at her admiringly after he's finished his reports, and wait to see how she responds
Smon: Helen: "So it sounds as if the Redfort may take the bait. Oh, I hope we're doing the right thing for Maria..." Helen notes Shade's admiring glance, and looks down, blushing slightly. "I... I expect you'll be going with Sir Garrick to Redfort?"
Amalric: "Of course. I must be at his side when he..enters the viper's nest, so to speak"
Amalric: "You shall be safe here until we return"
Smon: Helen nods. "Yes, I'll stay here, work on what allies we have among relatives of the Council - the Markles are secure, I think..."
Smon: Helen: "I know the Striker girls slightly, that's perhaps where I should focus my endeavours... I wish I could help more, but it's been years since I was last here..."
Smon: Helen looks up. "I know I can count on you to keep everyone safe - Sir Garrick, and Maria..."
Amalric: "And you. As much as I wish I could stay at your side, duty calls on the morrow." (/martyr  )
Amalric: he takes hold of her hand
Smon: Helen lets Shade take her hand, and moves slightly closer.
Smon: "I..."
Smon: CHA check at +2
Amalric rolls 1d20 and gets: 13,
Amalric: bingo
Amalric: 13 was a pass anyway
Smon: Helen: "You don't have to go..."
Amalric: Shade smiles warmly (but not too excitedly lest he appear as a teenager) and brings her closer, then kisses her
Smon: (fade to black) Shade spends the night happily with Helen, although the absence of full conjugal relations likely leaves him a little frustrated as he slips out of her bedroom before dawn next morn.
Amalric: he returns to his own room to jerk off  )
Smon: Next day at dawn, 6/11 Sir Garrick and Shade bid farewell to a slightly hung-over Sir Hawkes and head over to the Outs Inn to meet with Mr Colton.
Smon: chris, what are you up to?
Smon: /roll 1d100
Smon rolls 1d100 and gets: 70,
chris107: Having heard that a meeting will take place at the Out's Fab will be there. Hopefully with instructions.
Goonergeezer: (well at least garrick is worth far more alive than he is dead  )
Smon: /roll 1d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 5,
Smon: OOC I've added Septimus and a couple more college professors to the roster btw -http://smonsyggsburgh.blogspot.co.uk/2012/01/college-of-yggsburgh.html
Smon: I mean Horatio; who's Septimus anyway?
Smon: /roll 1d100
Smon rolls 1d100 and gets: 92,
Amalric: i've seen Stardust. there was a Septimus in that
chris107:
Smon: Horatio has not had a response, but suggests to Fabian that he seek to accompany the trip to Redfort if he can.
chris107: Septimus who?
Smon: /roll 1d6
chris107: Fabian will tag along if poss...
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 4,
Smon: GM: Is Fabian going to the Outs Inn also, or ignoring Horatio?
chris107: (Horatio's suggested going hasn't he? Therefore Fab will attempt to tag along.)
Smon: GM: Fabian can spend the night drinking with Barnaby, and suggest that a trip to Nearcliff would be a great idea? When Garrick and Shade leave the city walls and reach the Outs Inn just after dawn, they find Tal Colton already in the Inn courtyard, by a stage coach being loaded. A gaggle of habited nuns are assembled by the coach, four rather attractive young ladies and a stout matron. Garrick recognises them as Donvil Abbey nuns from their habits, and from their chatter they are returning from pilgrimage to the Shrine of the Unknown Paladin to the north at Gaxhill.
Smon: Tal: "Good morning, gentlemen."
Smon: (be breaking at 9pm to get critter to bed)
chris107: That sounds doable.
Amalric: "Good morning"
Goonergeezer: "Good morning Tal, how fares you this morning?"
Goonergeezer: (k np)
Smon: Tal: "Very well thank you, Sir Garrick. As you can see we have company, so the coach will be a little crowded..." Several of the younger nuns are glancing at the men, whispering and giggling in un-Sisterly fashion. Fabian and Barnaby Hawkes saunter into the courtyard a little hung-overly.
Smon: The stout coach driver nods dourly. "Five sisters and one man in the cab, one man on the running board, rest up top."
Goonergeezer: "that is fine, i shall ride my own mount to give the ladies more room"
chris107: Fab winks at the nuns and waves a friendly hello to Shade & Garrick
Smon: Tal shrugs. "Normally the coach would outpace a rider, but I'm sure that would be fine. Though I thought you came here by boat, Sir Garrick?"
Goonergeezer: (ok i forgot that!)
Goonergeezer: "yes indeed the coach seems most comfortable"
Amalric: "Cab, Sir Garrick? I will take the running board"
Smon: The young nuns giggle and wave at Fabian, The older nun snorts: "Sisters! Into the coach!" She brandishes a crop menacingly; the other nuns wince and hurriedly climb aboard.
Smon: Barnaby: "Hey, I'm sure if we squeeze, Fabian and I can fit in the cab!"
chris107: Fab agrees heartily.
Goonergeezer: "aye shade, your eyes are sharper than mine, remember the code we used on the boat? i think we should stick to that if you need to impart any information"
Amalric: "Of course"
Smon: Tal looks to Barnaby: "You two are coming, Mr Hawkes?" Barnaby: "Oh yes, as my father's representative ya know...."
Amalric: (I don't remember actually  )
Smon: The coachman nods: "No luggage for you gentlemen? Very well, all aboard!" Tal nods and ascends lightly to the roof of the cab, wrapping cloak about him against the dawn chill.
Goonergeezer: (1 knock for be rteady, 2 knocks for its gonna come to blows any minute i seem to remember, but i could be wrong)
Smon: Barnaby climbs eagerly into the cab, finding himself between the stout old nun and a shapely young filly, three nuns opposite. Where are Garrick and Fabian going?
Smon: (be back ca 16 mins)
chris107: Fab is thin and will squeeze in among the nuns if poss
Goonergeezer: if there is room in the cab then garrick will sit opposite fabian but next to a window
Goonergeezer: "you keep a lookout behind us i will face forward"
Amalric: (that'll do Ken!)
chris107: Pee and more wine then
Goonergeezer: more coffee and painkillers
Smon: FabjGarrick
Smon: Fabian squeezes in between two shapely young nuns, to much tittering.
Smon: Garrick opposite, between Barnaby and the dour matron.
Goonergeezer: Garrick turns to one of the young nuns next to him "I am terrible sorry, my weapon is rather hard and seems to be sticking into you, i do hope you do not mind"
chris107:
Goonergeezer: (the matron in that case)
Goonergeezer: "allow me to whip it out" garrick removes his dagger from its sheath
Amalric: (I didn't know Maranwe was on this trip?  )
Goonergeezer: maranwe wouldnt be that sophisticated
Goonergeezer: typical maranwe would be turns to nuns "tell me sister, do you like jewlery?......... then suck on this, its a gem!
chris107: You've used that line i'm guessing Ken?
Goonergeezer: not guilty on that count
Amalric: no, Ken's more of a fruit man
chris107: Or Chicken..
8:25pm  2013-9-25 GamerAim Has entered the room
Goonergeezer: yea the chicken line i have used
chris107: Haha
chris107: I thought so. That's foul!
Smon: back
8:25pm  2013-9-25 GamerAim Has exited the room
chris107: Hi GamerAim
chris107: Or fowel even..
Goonergeezer: best chat up lines are from sid the sexist
Goonergeezer: wb, little chap off to sleep ok?
Amalric: indeed Ken, remember them well!
Smon: little chap hopefully sleeping shortly
Smon: GM: The elder nun glowers at Garrick - no sense of humour - as the coach trundles through Yggsburgh then west down the Dunfalcon Pike.
chris107: Fab jests with Barnaby and the nuns.
Smon: The young nuns giggle at Fabian's quips until the matron shushes them: "Silence! Any more chatter and Father Jadis will be informed!" This threat quells them to silence.
Smon: The old nun turns to Garrickm Barnaby and Fabian. "Father Jadis of Dunfalcon has instituted a new regime at Donvil Abbey. No more indiscipline."
chris107: "Fascinating...."
Goonergeezer: Garrick will remain quiet during the journey and scans the countryside (its been a long time since he has been in redfort)
Smon: The coach trundles along the pike, after ca 12 miles passing through Whitsun and leaving Yggs territory for Redfort.
Smon: It's early afternoon when the coach reaches the Sun & Moon Inn at Redfort, where Garrick first laid eyes on Tabitha Kallent, so long ago.
Smon: The coach disembarks, the nun's matron marshalling her charges: "Sisters! We have six miles to walk to the Abbey, and luggage to carry! Ready yourselves!"
chris107: "Carry on Sisters!"
Smon: Tal Colton watches the black-garded assembly with amusement, then turns to the men. "Let us see the Baron." He gestures to the substantial castle looming on the crag above.
Goonergeezer: "lead the wqay Sir"
Smon: /roll 1d10
Smon rolls 1d10 and gets: 5,
Smon: GM: You all head up the trail to the castle gates, where Colton announces your arrival. You are escorted inside, Colton to see the Baron while the rest of you are sent to an antechamber in the castle's lower halls. White-garbed maids bring you drinks of milk or wheat ale.
Goonergeezer: Garrick sticks to the milk
Smon: After a half-hour wait, Colton rejoins you. "The Baron and his sister will see you now."
chris107: Wheat ale sounds good.
Smon: Colton escorts Garrick, Shade, Barnaby and Fabian upstairs to the castle's redstone Great Hall, small and pokey compared to that of Castle Kallent but doubtless impressive to local yokels (of whom Garrick was once one).
Amalric: Shade tries the ale too, in moderation
chris107: :0
Smon: The wheat ale was rather nice. A dozen armoured halberdiers line the walls, and at the far end the Baron Lyle Redfort sits upon a high chair clad in ermine robe, his sister the fair Lady Octavia to his right in a high-necked figure hugging dress of grey silk.
Smon: Baron Redfort is a stocky, fairly average looking fellow in his early thirties, Octavia seven years younger. He has a neat brown beard in Redfort fashion. He gestures you forwards.
Goonergeezer: Garrick wait for his name to be announced then strides forward (but not too close to the throne) and bows before the assembled nobles "Greetings Baron and Lady Redfort"
Smon: Lyle: "Welcome, Sir Garrick, Mr Hawkes..."
Amalric: Shade approaches a respectful distance behind, and bows
Smon: Lyle Redfort and his sister smile at the bow. Lyle: "Please, rise, good sir."
Goonergeezer: "this is my advisor Mr Shade and Mr hawkes Friend Fabian"
Smon: /roll 1d100
Smon rolls 1d100 and gets: 92,
Smon: Garrick CHA reaction roll is unadjusted, yes?
Goonergeezer: (yep, no adjustment)
Smon: The Redforts seem happy to see you!
chris107:
Smon: Lyle: "Tal tells me you bring an interesting proposal?"
Goonergeezer: "I do Baron, Long has been the Friction between our nations, this has had a serious effect on our natuions, i hope today we can redress that and enter a period of peace and prosperity for both of us"
Smon: Lyle nods affably. "This is my hope also. Dark forces threaten all the lands where Law and Justice yet prevail. We should stand together, lest we fall separtely..."
Goonergeezer: "I come offering the hand in marriage of the most beatuful Maria Of kallent and yourself, to help cement the friendship that will bloom between our nations as the love will bloom between yourself and our lovely Maria"
Smon: Lyle beckons you all closer. "I'm most interested to meet with Maria. By repute she's the prettiest of all the Kallent daughters, aye?"
Smon:
Goonergeezer: "I fear that is not true, My wife is the most beautiful woman in kallent, but Maria is a close second, although i must admit neither can hold a candle to your most wonderful sister the lady Octavia"
Smon: Lyle chuckles. "Why, very well said! Please do forgive me, Sir Garrick - a little test, one that you have of course passed with flying colours!"
Smon: Lyle: "Now, is one of you riding on to Kallent to fetch Maria, or shall I have a messenger deliver a written missif?"
Smon: Lady Octavia seems very impressed by Garrick BTW, smiling warmly at his lavish praise.
Smon: Looking around the room, Shade and Fabian can see that the guards seem particularly tense.
Amalric: (silver-tongued charmer!)
Goonergeezer: "we were hoping you would accompany us to Yggsburg, we will send word for maria to meet us there where we have left the Lady Helen to arrange a special Party at the home of Miss Candice wright, I hear she holds the most wonderful parties"
Smon: /roll 1d20
Smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 9,
Smon: The guards seem nervous.
chris107: (Fabian silently practices the words to his Sleep spell just incase...)
Smon: Lyle nods. "Hm, draw me to Yggsburgh, eh? I'll have to consider that... We'll feast tonight and talk of such matters. Send a letter to Kallent, then. I'll have Octavia show you to your rooms."
Goonergeezer: "i do hope you will come with us, and of course your dera sister" garrick makes eye contact with Octavia and holds her gaze for a moment longer than would be considered socially acceptable
Amalric: Shade makes no move, but is on high alert
Smon: Lyle waves his hand to Octavia, who smiles back warmly at Garrick as she rises gracefully. "Gentlemen, please come with me..."
Goonergeezer: "why thank you Baron, yes it would be nice to bathe and refresh oneself before frivolities tonight"
chris107: Fab will spruce his garments but keep his material components handy...
Goonergeezer: Garrick follows the Lady Redfort to his quartewrs, trying hard to memorise the route out if he needs to make a dash for it
Smon: Lyle nods, but waves rather dismissively. Lady Octavia escorts you all to one of the Red Fort's towers, where there are small but well appointed guest quarters, one small room each level. At the top of the spiral stairs is Sir Garrick's chamber on the highest floor, the solarium.
Smon: Lady Octavia ushers Garrick in and closes the door behind her, the guards outside. "Sir Garrick, you must forgive my brother if he seems a little brusque..."
Smon: GM: Shade, you are alone in your room. Make a Hear Noise check at +40%
Amalric: are the windows glass? barred? mere arrow slits?
Amalric rolls 1d100 and gets: 74,
Amalric: nope
Goonergeezer: "Of course,,,,,,, May i call you Octavia" garrick stands a little closer than is deemed decent but makes no other move other than to talk to the lady
Smon: The window is a slit, with a narrow glass pane that could be opened. A human could not get through.
Amalric:
Amalric: not a problem
Smon: Shade hears the guards talking on the stairs outside, but not what they say.
chris107: What about a skinny boy like Fabian?
chris107: What floor is he on?
Smon: (maybe a skinny ninja). Fabian is one floor up from Shade, one down from Barnaby.
chris107:
Smon: Octavia flushes slightly as Garrick moves closer. "I... we hope this is the beginning of a lasting alliance. "
Smon: "Yes, you may call me Octavia, Garrick..."
Goonergeezer: "as do i, there are many things we, i mean our nations could do for each other"
Smon: Garrick make a CHA check.
Goonergeezer rolls 1d20 and gets: 15,
Goonergeezer: fail
Amalric: (not going our way right now)
Smon: Octavia nods. "Yes... We have many enemies. Talworth. Of course there is the issue that this alliance with Yggsburgh would breach Redfort's pact with our good ally, the County Easmoor..."
Smon: Lady Octavia sits down on Garrick's bed and gestures for him to sit beside her. "I will try to persuade Lyle that this new alliance is worth offending Easmoor, but it will not be easy... Perhaps a sufficient dowry?"
Smon: /roll 1d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 5,
Smon: GM: Fabian checks his window - it looks pretty secure. There's a nice view of a courtyard below. A squad of soldiers are drilling.
chris107: Is his door locked from without?
Smon: Fabian checks his door - not locked. Octavia takes a deep breath. "If only - if only part of the Kallent Marches could accompany Maria..."
Smon: She moves closer to Garrick, so that her left breast touches his right arm.
Goonergeezer: "if you could somehow appease Easmoor, of course a dowry would have to be paid, that is without question, i was hoping to appease both you and your brother with a fine gift, I am currently seeting up a small local force with a mind to ending the piracy on the nemo, i had planned on giving you the head of one of the pirates as part of the dowry"
chris107: Guard outside?
Smon: Fabian opens his door. The two guards are downstairs outside Shade's door, chatting.
Smon: The staircase spirals upwards to Garrick & Barnaby's rooms.
chris107: Can he hear what they are chatting about?
Smon: /roll 1d6
Smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 2,
Goonergeezer: as garrick is talking he slowlt leans in closer until he is just a few inches from Octavias face but will keep eye contact at all times
Smon: Fabian makes out a few words: "Think they'll aid us?" "Aye... looks hopeful, Mack. We could use some luck..."
chris107: (Thanks)
Goonergeezer: (as much as he want to stay faithful to tabby he knows he has to do whatever he can to try to make this alliance work)
Smon: Octavia flushes, but doesn't flinch as Garrick moves closer: "I... You know of Gold Hal?"
Goonergeezer: (lie back and think of Kallent)
Goonergeezer: "I know he held you prisoner, you do not have to speak of that period of your life, it is in the past and will never be spokem of aloud"
Smon: Fabian hears more chatter from the guards: "Damn those ****'n Easmoor! How could they betray us so?!" "Easterling gold, Mack, the Talworth are never short of it. And you know how much the Paynims want our women..."
Goonergeezer: garrick slowly raises his hand and strokes the cheeck of Octavia, such beauty should be treated gently and with love"
Smon: Octavia shudders, and nods. "He is a great villain. He should die for his crimes." She quivers slightly as Garrick touches her cheek, but rises from the bed. "I must go. I must..."
Goonergeezer: "Yes, But i shall see you tonight at the feast?"
Smon: Octavia: "As I...as I said. I will try to persuade Lyle to break our alliance with Easmoor. Anything you can offer... I shall see you tonight, yes."
Smon: Octavia nods and departs quite hurriedly.
Goonergeezer: "i shall count the hours my Lady"
Smon: The two guards remain at the foot of your tower stairs, possibly to keep an eye on you all.
Smon: Do you want to communicate before dinner? Barnaby is busy penning a missive to Maria Kallent for Garrick to sign.
Amalric: Shade will leave his room, smile worryingly at the guards, then move upstairs. he will collect Fabian and Branaby on the way to Garrick's room
Goonergeezer: garrick will go downstairs and fetch shade......meeting them on the stairway
chris107:
Smon: GM: OK, you all assemble. Barnaby passes Garrick the draft letter. "It says to Maria to come to Yggsburgh with all hastem
Smon: "is that correct?"
Goonergeezer: Garrick signs it and tells barnaby to see it is passed on
chris107: Sounds okay to me
Smon: Barnaby nods and goes downstairs to pass the letter on via the guards.
Smon: (I'll stop a bit before 11pm)
Goonergeezer: (k)
chris107: okay
Smon: One of the guards takes the letter, Barnaby comes back up. Barnaby: "Well that meeting went very well, eh? They seem friendly."
Goonergeezer: "It would seem that everything is going to plan, we can only hope that everything stays that way"
chris107: Fab quietly mentions the guards conversation.
Amalric: Shade mentions how nervous the guards were in the great hall
Goonergeezer: whispered "So Redfort is having some trust issues with Easmoor? that is good news, it strengthens our offer considerably"
Smon: GM: That evening you gather for dinner at high table in the great hall, Lyle Octavia and Tal Colton also at the table, the Redfort retainers below.
Smon: The mood is subdued.
Goonergeezer: throughout the evening garrick will make eye contact with Octavia when he is not in converstaion with Lyle
chris107: Fab stays more sober than usual.....
Smon: Lyle: "We've had a little trouble recently with slave-raiders on our south-east frontier. Uvoll Darktarn's men, doubtless."
chris107: (Ears prick up...)
Smon: Octavia: "Still, I hear that villain Odric has finally been disposed of down in Herdley, Sir Garrick? Mr Colton tells us he was one of Darktarn's, also."
Amalric: "The bastards," mutters Shade, who continues eating
Goonergeezer: "i had a run in with slavers a while back in Yggs, terrible business"
Smon: Lyle nods affably, chewing on some steak.
Smon: Lyle: "Talworth's tentacles of evil stretch ever further... I wouldn't be surprised if they had a hand in Dunfalcon's attack on Herdley. We suspect a secret alliance."
chris107: "Bad sort is he this Darktarn chappy?"
Goonergeezer: "Yes, Odric is no more, but it cost me dearly, i lost a great friend during the encounter, but such evil needs to be stopped, like a weed if it is not cut at the root it will grow again"
Smon: Octavia: "But of course your own intelligence agents will have told you all this already."
Smon: Lyle nods. "Good show nailing Odric. Hope he suffered."
Smon: Tal Colton turns to Fabian: "Darktarn is the worst of sorts - Sorceror, Diabolist, slaver. In Talworth even the Church is corrupt - hard to believe, I know."
chris107: Fabian shakes his head and tut's
Amalric: (almost time up for me)
Smon: Lyle nods: "Aye, he and his master the Marquis Edgar truck with the dark powers of the Easterlings. They'd enslave us all, if they could."
Smon: Lyle: "Kallent is fortunate that you do not adjoin Talworth lands as we do. Redfort has suffered much..."
Goonergeezer: "slavery is a blight upon these lands, if we stand togehter i am sure we can put a stop to it all, Varuna was a staunch believer in it"
Smon: Lyle nods: "Aye, the Herdley were -are - little better, I fear.
Smon: GM: OK, reckon I'll quit there.
Amalric: "Were..."
Smon:
