Hail smon, and well met!
smon Has entered the room
genghisdon: hi simon
smon: Hi g
chris107: Hello Simon
smon: Hi all
genghisdon: are we gonna dice for the magic?
Goonergeezer: dont forget rewards for returning the widow whassname
genghisdon: yes
corum Has entered the room
genghisdon: her & the ladies dress/silverware
Kjato Ragfoot Has entered the room
Goonergeezer: ello
genghisdon: hi corum
corum: ey up!
smon: Hi
chris107: Evening Corum
genghisdon: hi kjato
Kjato Ragfoot: Hello everyone!
chris107: and Kjato
Kjato Ragfoot: Did it after all.
corum: I need ten mins before start
genghisdon: cool
corum: if thats ok
genghisdon: sure, can we dice for picks on the loot?
genghisdon: or do we have another method?
smon: I'm going to start game at 7pm, but your PC can tag along until you're ready.
smon: The 3 conscious PCs took the good stuff
chris107: Oh and Morganna dear, can I have my bow back please?
genghisdon: yes, of course...i dunno about the arrows i shot though
genghisdon: i fetch my bow if no one else did
chris107: I just posted on the DF site asking. Couldn't get my message on to the blog
genghisdon: so loot is split by the last standing? that's not a good long term method, but ok
chris107: And also pick up a servicable dagger
genghisdon: our gnome should too
chris107: He got the magical one
Kjato Ragfoot: If you can use the dagger well, you can have it.
genghisdon: sure
Kjato Ragfoot: It would be wiser to give it to a proficient character after all.
genghisdon: u can't?
Felorn Has entered the room
Kjato Ragfoot: And Duvader does not have a weapon proficiency dagger.
genghisdon: aren't u a fighter thief? 6 profs & no dagger?
chris107: Opa does...
Felorn: ((Just peaking as usual))
corum: Im happy to give a larger % of the loot in return for the chain shirt I took
chris107: But as she spent most of the game on 0HP cant really make a claim
Felorn: ((*peeking))
genghisdon: sure she can
Kjato Ragfoot: I only have 4 weapon proficiencies.
bigbearomaha Has entered the room
Kjato Ragfoot: Only get those from the better class, not from both.
smon: Yep
genghisdon: wwll take dagger & something as a thief
chris107: And she's very shy
genghisdon: really? is that how u do it simon?
Kjato Ragfoot: I would take the potion of aetheralness instead, that is useful for a thief too.
bigbearomaha Has exited the room
smon: (I don't see any indication in 1e PHB that WPs stack). If you haven't already, read the aftermath post & comments:http://smonsyggsburgh.blogspot.com/
smon: So Duvader takes the potion of gaseous form & gives Opa the +1/+2 dagger?
chris107: We average the weapon proficiency slots so all seems pretty generous.
genghisdon: there isn't any indication they don't but it's your game
genghisdon: i need to loose one then
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes, if Opa has a weapon proficiency Dagger, it is much more useful for her.
chris107: Oh thankyou Duv gushes Opa!
genghisdon: Morganna " Thank you for your healing magics miss"
chris107: And plants a big kiss on his head (if she can reach)
smon: Duvader is what, 3'?
Kjato Ragfoot: Well, Duvader, being a gnome, is most likely smaller than her.
Goonergeezer: just kiss whatever you can reach
forgemeister Has entered the room
Kjato Ragfoot: He is about 1 m or so.
chris107: And Opa a towering 4' 4"
chris107: HaHa!
Felorn Has exited the room
chris107: Just going to fix a drink and I'm ready to go. 1 minute.
forgemeister: u guys gaming? and, mind if I watch (quietly)?
genghisdon: sure
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes, we are gaming, Smons Yggsburgh game.
smon: WP slots - multiclass PCs get the best progression from either class, same as they get the best weapon selection.
forgemeister: thanks - chat games are always very good entertainment, even from the stands
genghisdon: sure i loose short sword i guess
smon: Your current hp tallies are here: http://smonsyggsburgh.blogspot.com/2011/12/pc-roster.html
chris107: Opa @ GM could you also clarify 19 Dexterity and how it reflects on using two weapons.?
corum: btw whats everyone listening to while they play?
chris107: Tonight
chris107: A Sinatra CD I got for Christmas
smon: Counting 19 DEX as 18 for reaction/attacking
smon: So 0/-1
chris107: So 0/-1
chris107: Thanks
corum: im going with kraftwerk
chris107: Just wanted to check before it became important
smon: I trust you've all now read to the bottom of the comments on blog posthttp://smonsyggsburgh.blogspot.com/2011/12/session-2-aftermath.html
smon: I will now begin...
chris107: Yup, So Opa gets a +1 damage on her off hand at lvl 2 -4 - 6 etc.
smon: yes
smon: Drawing closer to Yggsburgh in the dawn light, you see the end of the Dunfalcon Pike ahead, beneath the city's high walls.
smon: It terminates at a T-junction; to the right Purple Tower Road heads south-east towards Talworth, while to the left the great span of the Townbridge crosses the Nemo River to a massive gate house.
smon: As you approach, the Nightsoil Collectors are throwing their nightly load from the bridge to the waters 40' below, and a queue of farm wagons are waiting to enter the city.
chris107: Opa wrinkles her pretty nose with distaste!
smon: You join the queue on the bridge, farmers casting curious glances at your group, especially the five captives.
Kjato Ragfoot: Duvader friendly waves at the farmers.
smon: "That's Lord Ollie!" "Aye, and those are four of his men... The Ox, Gray Willie..."
smon: "...Foreigner and Sweet Umberto! Half the gang!"
Saunatonttu Has entered the room
chris107: OOC Half?
Saunatonttu: (hi all! i'll hang and watch)
chris107: Evening
Goonergeezer: garrick: " thats right and tthis is what will happen to all outlaws in these parts"
genghisdon: (the other half are dead ?)
smon: A young farm hand accompanying an older, bearded man waves back at Duvader. "Ho there, Sir Gnome!"
genghisdon: hey sauna
smon: (aye)
Kjato Ragfoot: We left some lay for dead, because we ran out of horses.
chris107: (Opa's not good at Sums
smon: The farmers listen to Duvader's words, a couple gulp.
corum: Flynn eyes them all with suspicion
smon: They look like farming folk of the South Pastures.
Kjato Ragfoot: Ho there, Sir Farmhand!
smon: You cross a drawbridge at the north end of the Townbridge and approach the gate. You can see two halberdiers taking toll from the farmers, while six crossbowmen watch from the parapets above.
Kjato Ragfoot: Duvader mutters: Sir seems to be some kind of polite greeting for humans.
Kjato Ragfoot: (quietly, to himself)
smon: Six more halberdiers in chain can be seen just past the entryway.
smon: After 15 minutes you reach the head of the queue. A heavy-set, bearded halberdier bars your way. "Mornin'."
smon: He eyes the brigands roped behind you.
genghisdon: Morganna "ho guardsmen, we have infamous brigands to jail & ladies to reunite with family & possessions"
chris107 Has exited the room
Kjato Ragfoot: Morning Sir Guardsman.
smon: /roll 1d100+5
smon rolls 1d100+5 and gets: 02, (+5) = 7
genghisdon: not nice
chris107 Has entered the room
smon: The guardsman glares at Morganna. "Issat so?"]
smon: (Morganna rolled a 2 on d% reaction roll, Chris)
genghisdon: "yes, it is so. Would you give us a man to escort us about your fine city?"
Goonergeezer: garrick@ guardsman:"aye it is so we fought and vanquished lord ollie"
chris107 rolls 1d100 and gets: 59,
genghisdon: a 7!
chris107: Opa-Loka gives the offended guardsman a vapid and empty headed smile and drops her handkerchief...
smon: (You only get 1 reaction check!) The guardsman snorts derisively. "Escort?!"
forgemeister Has exited the room
genghisdon: Morganna casts charm person on the lout
smon: Chatterly speaks up: "I am the Widow Chatterly, I was kidnapped by these brigands four weeks past..."
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes, not that the bandits get stolen before we receive bounty!
smon: /roll 1d20
smon rolls 1d20 and gets: 15,
smon: The guardsman gives Morganna a suddenly soppy look. "Forgive me, Elf Maid, I did not mean to offend..."
smon: His companion, a smaller man, gives Morganna a glare. "Oi! No glamours!"
genghisdon: "no offense taken, now about escorting these heros & the base brigands?"
smon: The big man nods. "Aye, of course you'll need an escort to the Gaol."
chris107: Opa @ Morganna (in Elvis, whispered) 'Oooh, you must teach me how to do that some time...
genghisdon: Morganna "glamours? simply some elven prayers my man"
smon: He continues: "Ere, Garrett, you take over the tolling, I must go with these folk."
smon: Garrett - the smaller man - looks annoyed. "Yer fergettin the toll, Charlie!"
Kjato Ragfoot: Hmm. How much toll does one has to pay for bandits?
genghisdon: "surely we need not pay a toll, having done the city such great service?" smiles
corum: Flynn eyes the guard and imagines how his neck will sound as it snaps...
smon: Charlie, the big man, nods. "Seems fair..."
smon: /roll 1d100+5
smon rolls 1d100+5 and gets: 81, (+5) = 86
genghisdon: and the smaller/
genghisdon: ?
chris107: Opa mournes the loss of a pretty hankerchief
OculusOrbus Has entered the room
smon: Garrett glares at Morganna. "Charlie better be back 'ere sharpish, or I'm 'aulin you up fer Witchcraft! I know yer wiles!"
genghisdon: hi oo
OculusOrbus: lads
chris107: evening
genghisdon: "have no fear, we simply require a guide"
genghisdon: I/we head on in
smon: Charlie, the big guard, waves you all through, into the Gatehouse Plaza, already thronged with early morning beggars and market stalls.
genghisdon: Morganna to big guard "what is your name? "
smon: "Charlie, milady."
genghisdon: "ah, of course, your friend said as much"
corum: Flynn looks on "like maggots" he thinks to himself "little pink maggots"
OculusOrbus: heh
smon: He ushers you through the gatehouse plaza, north along Crossgates Ave to the main City Market, thronged with stalls, and much wholesale food trade.
genghisdon: "Morganna " I am Morganna, and this is Opa, ect (I name our group to him)...could you direct us where to bring these villains?"
smon: Charlie: "Never fear milady. I'm takin' you right there - the City Gaol!"
smon: Charlie leads you through the market, knocking over-eager beggars aside with the butt of his halberd, then NE along Plaza Avenue.
genghisdon: Morganna follows his lead, looking about at the wares on sale
Goonergeezer: garrick: @ widow elizebath " as soon as we drop these ruffians off we shall escort you home my lady
smon: At the great City Hall & Law Courts you turn left up Middle Thoroughfare, then right onto Fetters Lane, where stands the grim bulk of the City Gaol, several fellows in stocks outside.
smon: Elizabeth nods to Garrick: "Thank you, kind sir."
chris107: Opa @ All - 'And we must get the dresses to the other girls, otherwise they will never get to the ball on time!'
genghisdon: "indeed, I intended sir Ulrich Hawkes abode as next stop..but here we are"
Kjato Ragfoot: Duvader @ Opa right, appease a noble where possible!
genghisdon: I/we head up to the gaol
chris107: Opa at Duvader - 'Dont be all cross with me....' a single larger tear rolls down Ops's cheek.
genghisdon: Morganna @ lord ollie "so what is it that drove you to banditry?"
smon: You hitch your horses outside and Charlie leads you into the gaol, a reception hall with several armed guards.
chris107: Either this key board's playing up or I need to put more tonic in the next one..
smon: Ollie rolls his eyes at Morganna. "Please..."
Kjato Ragfoot: Duvader @ Opa Cross? I agreed with you!
genghisdon: Morganna "so be it, tell the court"
chris107: Opa - 'Forgive a silly girl? I thought you were cross with me.' Beams a big smile.
smon: Maybe the big font looks like Duvader's shouting, Kj
chris107: Small gnome -big font syndrome ;0)
genghisdon: lol
smon: There is some discussion, then a messenger-boy runs off to fetch someone important.
Kjato Ragfoot: ((I am not on my own computer, font sizes are a little odd here. Better now?))
smon: Charlie turns to Morganna. "They're fetchin' the Deputy Sheriff, a very important fellow, Davis Proctor by name."
smon: (yes)
genghisdon: "what is he like?"
corum: Flynn "grpmphhh"
corum: Flynn thinks all city folk are the same
chris107: Opa @ Charlie 'Are they going to hang them do you think?'
smon: Charlie shrugs: "I don't deal with the Beadles that much. See, they have indigo coats and yellow stocking. while us Citadel guard have the reverse..."
Kjato Ragfoot: So, there are different guards in this city?
smon: Charlie nods to Opa. "That's the penalty for Highway Robbery, yep."
genghisdon: Morganna " I see, thnx Charlie"
chris107: Opa looks shocked...
chris107: Indigo and Yellow!!!???
genghisdon: (heh)
smon: Charlie looks down at Duvader. "They ain't guards. We're guards. They're Beadles. We protect the city, they enforce the Law."
chris107: Opa @ Charlie -'Not the laws of fashion obviously'
genghisdon: lol
smon: Charlie looks at Opa and snorts. The boy returns with a lean, neatly bearded man in an expensive velvet version of the Beadles' outfit, a silver badge clasping his cloak. "Which of you is in charge?"
Goonergeezer: garrick: i am
genghisdon: Morganna looks at her allies then says " I suppose I am"
Kjato Ragfoot: Duvader @ Charlie: Oh. Thanks. I did not know that.
genghisdon: "very well, he is"
chris107: Opa looks vapid but pretty
corum: "I am" ((lol))
smon: "Good. I am the Deputy Sheriff. These five are all wanted outlaws..."
chris107: And giggles
corum: ((we all step forward))
smon: (He addresses Morganna)
Goonergeezer: garrick: we all make decisions together so we are all in charge
smon: The Deputy Sheriff rolls his eyes. "I see."
Kjato Ragfoot: Duvader, silently to himself: I do not understand why anyone would want an outlaw, but I won't discourage this trade.
genghisdon: Morganna "we expected they were"
smon: "What of the rest of Lord Ollie's gang?"
corum: ((Flynn is definitely NOT in charge))
Goonergeezer: garrick: Dead
genghisdon: "slain, I believe, though if you know their numbers, we can verify"
smon: "Evidence?"
genghisdon: i would have brought their heads in my pack
chris107: Opa - I knew we should have cut off their heads! Pouts and sulks.
genghisdon: but we skipped over that time
chris107: Opa @ Morganna - 'Especially that horrid fat womans'
smon: (Morganna was in no condition to cut off any heads, and none of the 3 PCs still standing said anything, so I guess you didn't)
Goonergeezer: garrick: evidence? thweere
Goonergeezer: garrick: are corpses but a few hours back
genghisdon: "we can go gather their heads if you wish"
genghisdon: (how many did we leave?)
chris107: Opa looks hopefully at the Beadle
Kjato Ragfoot: The witch, the fat woman, the easterling and two locals.
smon: "Well, bring us their heads and there's a reward; they're worth half as much dead as alive. The Mayor likes 'em to hang slowly in the market square, as an example to others."
genghisdon: "there are 5 more plus these here"
chris107: Opa smiles in a most blood thirsty manor
smon: (4 more)
genghisdon: "how much reward are we talking about?"
smon: Davis O
smon: Davis Proctor consults a scroll. "Most of the gang are 25/50.. 50/100 for Shadow, and Ollie is 100/200..."
genghisdon: "excellent, do we collect from you?"
smon: "So for these five that's 50x4 and 200, 400 gold in all. Well done."
chris107:
genghisdon: "glad to be of service to the community"
genghisdon: "we shall return later today with the others"
chris107: Opa - When can we see them hang?
smon: "You'll need to wait while we verify your catch and the scribes do the paperwork. It'll take a couple hours. You can wait, or come back tomorrow." He yawns.
corum: Flynn has had enough and speaks up "Im not going back there for 100 gold pieces"
chris107: 'Slowly'
genghisdon: "we will come back"
Kjato Ragfoot: Huh, can we simply point you to where the corpses lay and you catch them for yourselfs?
chris107: Opa - Oh goodie, we can deliver the dresses for the ball now!'
smon: Davis: "Prob'ly hang em at Sunset, the Sheriff'll decide. Now, if you'll excuse me, my Shift is up."
corum: Flynn "Im no undertaker, i want no part"
genghisdon: Morganna to Opa: "yep"
chris107: Opa @ Flynn - 'And they never smell so good when theyve been left a while
genghisdon: Morganna @ party "we decide who goes to do the deed later, but for now, let's return these belongins to the ladies we travelled with, at Sir Ulrich Hawke's abode"
chris107: But then brightens thinking about parties and stuff.
genghisdon: Morganna @ Charlie "do you know the way?"
corum: Flynn @ Opa "Im sure there is a better wage to be had right here!"
Kjato Ragfoot: Duvader Well, I think we should get Widow Chatterly home, return the dresses to Lady Hawke and find a place for Princess Aole.
chris107: +1
Goonergeezer: garrick@ morgana we need to drp these 2 ladies off first, they are wearing 2 of the dresses
genghisdon: "as you wish Duvader"
smon: Charlie looks at Morganna. "The way to where, lady?"
genghisdon: Sir Ulrich Hawke's abode
genghisdon: "but never mind for now, Lead us on Widow Chaterly"
smon: The Deputy Sheriff waves you goodbye and departs. The Beadles escort your four captives away, handing you a promissory note stating you will be paid pending enquiries.
genghisdon: "You can return to your post Charlie"
smon: Elisabeth Chattlerly nodsto Morganna, as does Charlie: "Thanks milady. It's been a pleasure."
Kjato Ragfoot: Duvader @ Charlie: Thanks for your help!
genghisdon: "see you soon Charlie"
smon: You head outside and Charlie departs, heading back to his post.
smon: Elisabeth watches him go thoughtfully, then turns to Morganna. "Yes, of course, to my house."
smon: Chatterly leads you back down Fetters Alley, right on Middle Thoroughfare, then north.
Kjato Ragfoot: ((So so, Lady Elisabeth Chatterly, and known for modesty.... Hm, I think there are some rather ... steamy ... books with her))
smon: You walk north about 600 yards, then left on Money Street.
corum: ((dint she used to go out with Boromir))
smon: (LOL)
smon: A similar distance west through the morning traffic brings you to a good-sized merchant's house on your left, at the corner of Money Street and Gent's Alley.
smon: Elisabeth pulls the doorbell, after a short delay the door is opened by a very surprised looking butler. "Madam! You have returned!"
smon: Chatterly: "Yes, Jives. There was a ...delay. Administering my husband's estate took longer than expected."
genghisdon: (heh)
smon: The butler takes in the muddy and clearly too short aristocrat's dress Elisabeth is wearing, and doesn't blink. "Of course, madam. You must be weary from your journey. I shall have the maids prepare a hot bath."
genghisdon: Morganna @ lady Chatterly "So are you well, lady?"
smon: Elisabeth looks to Morganna: "I am a little tired. But, first things first. Do come in."
genghisdon: I foolow
genghisdon: follow
chris107: Opa - Tries to get a peek at the interior decoration...
smon: While the butler goes to have a bath run, Chatterly escorts you in to a slightly dusty reception room,
chris107: Opa - runs a finger over surfaces for dust.
smon: The place is furnished in dark oak panel, lots of silverware and paintings that look very crude to Opa's eyes.
Kjato Ragfoot: Hmm. Cosy.
Kjato Ragfoot: Duvader follows as well.
smon: Elisabeth frowns. "Jives has been letting the place run down in my absence."
genghisdon: "when the cat is away, the mice will play"
corum: Flynn is like a fish out of water, clattering into he silverwear like an oaf
chris107: Opa @ The widow - 'It is so difficult to get good staff.'
corum: "hmmmmpgph, sorry m'lady"
smon: She sits you all in the reception room. Jives returns. Elizabeth: "Jives, go fetch my money pouch, thank you. These adventurers have been escorting me, and need paying."
genghisdon: "you are too kind"
chris107:
Kjato Ragfoot: Hmm. I know some very trustworthy gnomes, cousins of mine.
smon: Chatterly nods to Opa. "Well, I was gone longer than expected."
Kjato Ragfoot: So, if you need additional personnel, I could send a letter of recommendation.
smon: E nods to Duv. "Thank you, I will certainly consider that."
smon: Jives departs, quickly returning with a leather money-pouch.
smon: Chatterly: "Now then... I would think ten pieces of gold to each of you would be satisfactory, yes?"
genghisdon: "certainly"
genghisdon: (what is a GP worth ? in modern terms?)
chris107: Opa (thinking to self only) That's how they keep rich
smon: Chatterly begins doling out the coin, marked with the motto of Yggsburgh: "None can deny us independence".
Goonergeezer: garrick@ Widow Chatterley: might we leave the lady aoule in your charge, she has noone in the city
genghisdon: "perhaps Lady Aoule would like to accompany us on adventure, I would be glad to equip her?"
smon: (Monthly wage for 1st class infantry soldier Ftr-1 is 10gp. Something like £100),
smon: £100 per gp
genghisdon: thnx
chris107: Opa - Brightens with this knowledge, converting it rapidly into new frocks
smon: Chatterly: "As I said, Aole is welcome to remain here awhile. I have need of a good maidservant." Aole's eyes flash angrily.
smon: Aole: "I am *not* a maid!"
chris107: Opa - It is Princess Aole isnt it dear?
genghisdon: Morganna to Aole " as I sad, I would be glad to equip you, should you wish to travel with us"
genghisdon: said
smon: Aole turns to Morganna. "I would be happy to accompany you, Morganna. Perhaps my healing power can still assist you."
Goonergeezer: garrick @ aole i/we will pay for your food and lodgings until we can get a message to your homeland
genghisdon: "It already has, and certainly will in the future as well"
smon: Aole nods. "Thank you, Sir Garrick. I will be glad to offer what I can,in return."
Goonergeezer: garrick @ all even better, another friend to come and explore with us
chris107: Opa @ Princess Aole, Oh yes please do join us it will be such fun!
genghisdon: "we will see about that after we return the silverware & dresses, as their is a party deadline to consider"
Kjato Ragfoot: Duvader @ Aole If you think you are fit for a live as adventurer, you are welcome to stay. Healing is always helpful.
smon: Elisabeth looks a little frosty. "Well, I'm glad that's all sorted out then. I'm going to bathe now. Wait here a moment and a maid will return you this dress."
chris107: Opa - Goes giddy at the mention of party!
smon: Aole smiles back to Opa.
genghisdon: "thank you, and may all the best sccrue to you Elizabeth"
genghisdon: accrue
Kjato Ragfoot: When the maid arrives, Duvander will ask her where to get a good dress for Aole.
genghisdon: so we have 8?? gp now?
corum: ((scrrue to you lol))
smon: Liz bids you farewell. After 10 minutes a maid comes in with the dress she wore.
smon: (You were just given 10gp each per PC)
chris107: @ DM so + 10GP each Simon?
smon: y
genghisdon: cool, we ask if they know where Sir Ulrich Hawkes dwells
smon: /roll 1d6
smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 4,
genghisdon: what did we get from bandits?
chris107: Opa - Gloats over the size of her gold purse compared with last week
smon: The maid frowns. "Oh yes, he's terribly famous! Jewel Street just west of here, I think."
genghisdon: anyone?
chris107: Waiting for the authorities Don
genghisdon: "thank you mam"
chris107: 400GP when they've done the paper work
smon: (you got 57 each from the highwaymen)
genghisdon: I/we head to jewel street, to the west
genghisdon: thnx
smon: The butler escorts you out, Aole still in Tabitha's party dress.
smon: Just west of here is the junction of Jewel Street and Grand Avenue, you head NW up Jewel Street.
smon: University buildings are on your left, upper-class mansions to your right.
genghisdon: Morganna asks passers by for direction
chris107: Opa @ Morganna - Ask about Tabitha's place too!
genghisdon: (isn't it the same place?)
smon: yes
Kjato Ragfoot: Yes, they were mother and daughter?
chris107: @ Don, Thought one was a posh frock shop?
genghisdon: "?"
chris107: On Jewel Street? Never mind, got my wires crossed
smon: You're heading for the mansion of Ulrich Hawkes, Dame Gertrude's sister's husband.
corum: Flynn "we need to get this kid kitted out and armed if she is to come with us, I am not a babysitter!"
smon: http://smonsyggsburgh.blogspot.com/2011/12/kallent-family-tree.html
smon: http://smonsyggsburgh.blogspot.com/2011/12/nobles.html
genghisdon: "the princess is no kid, and we shall, but we have pressing buisness to finish here, likely a reward to boot"
Kjato Ragfoot: Duvader @ Flynn Yes, but I think delivering dresses should not be that dangerous.
Kjato Ragfoot: Aole should manage that.
corum: Flynn "hrrrmmmph"
Kjato Ragfoot: And the Hawkes will most likely be able to recommend a good tailor for Aole.
smon: A gaggle of teenage boys are heading for a school ahead to your left, dawdling.
corum: ((burn em!))
corum: ((sorry lol))
genghisdon: Morganna " hello fine lads, which home is that of Sir Hawkes?"
smon: You hear a school bell ringing. "Late again! Drat it!" cries one.
smon: "Hawkes! That one of course, yer bumpkin!" The boys chortle.
genghisdon: some things never change
chris107: How very like real life
genghisdon: i/we go to "that one"
smon: He pointed to the left of the two great mansions, each set in its own grounds.
smon: A 2-story villa set in its own grounds, a gatekeeper's house by the gate.
smon: 3 story
genghisdon: I/we go the gatehouse
chris107: Opa (to self) Much more the thing
smon: Brown hawk in gold indent upon a blue field surmounts the gate.
genghisdon: (take over speaking opa, I'm going for a smoke)
chris107: Ops @ DM - Is there servants on hand?
smon: You approach, the gatekeeper/groundsman escorts you to the front door, where an usher greets you. "Ah yes, you are expected."
smon: He regards your travel-stained acoutrements with disdain.
smon: The usher escorts you into the palatial mansion, the entrance hall all in white marble.
chris107: Opa @ Gate Keeper, Fetch your Mistress, we have ridden through great peril to make sure she will go to the ball.
corum: ((she's not going to be happy!))
smon: The usher leads you through the hall and into a morning-room, where Tabitha and Dame Gertrude are taking morning tea with the master and mistress of the house - a stout, florid-faced gentleman with bristling moustache, and a plump woman who looks like a more affable Dame Gertrude.
genghisdon: back
smon: Usher: "Sir Ulrich Hawkes, Madam Winifred Hawkes, Dame Gertrude Kallent, Tabitha Kallent... the adventurers you expected."
genghisdon: "good morning, milord, ladies"
genghisdon: "and this is princess Aole of ?)
Goonergeezer: garrick: Good morning Tabitha
Kjato Ragfoot: Duvader bows.
corum: Flynn shuffles awkwardly
smon: Sir Hawkes half-rises. "Mornin' all! Grab a chair." Gertrude: "What is that girl doing in Tabitha's dress?!"
chris107: Opa - Smiles and waves at Tabitha. Silently mouthing to her -We got the dresses!
genghisdon: "the vile brigands forced to parade nakedly"
smon: Tabitha looks lovey-dovey at Garrick.
genghisdon: i sit
genghisdon: (sweet)
Kjato Ragfoot: Duvader: Gladly, Sir Hawkes.
smon: Ulrich: "Nakedly, eh?!"
smon: He reddens, grinning.
genghisdon: "yes, the brutes!"
Kjato Ragfoot: Ah, that is Princess Aole. Lord Ollie robber her of everyrthing, including her clothes.
chris107: 'Brutes!'
genghisdon: "still they shall dance on the glallows for it"
smon: Aole curtsies to the assembled aristocrats. "I am Princess Aole of Neria."
Kjato Ragfoot: Knowing Lady Tabithas great heart, we assumed she would gladly allow her to wear one of her dresses during this time of need.
chris107: Opa - Does a little jig to illustrate Morganna's point sticking her tongue out to represent chocking on the gallows
smon: Gertrude fans herself. "Really, this is quite peculiar! A princess? I hear Neria has ten thousand such!"
genghisdon: heh
genghisdon: (poor Aole gets dissed by everyone!)
smon: Hawkes: "You caught Lord Ollie, eh? Good show! You must tell me about it!"
genghisdon: Morganna tells the tale with embelishment
Kjato Ragfoot: ((We keep Aole for ourselves, later, when we are rich, we will sponsor her an army to avenge all false done to her))
chris107: Opa @ Hawkes - 'Surely he's not a proper Lord? Like you....'
genghisdon: making the brigands twice as foul, and us twice as heroic
smon: Winifred to Aole: "You poor dear, that dress is filthy. Let's get you out of it." Ulrich: "Yes, let's!"
smon: He grins more.
genghisdon: (heh, dirty old goat)
Portillo Has entered the room
Portillo: Hi guys
chris107: (Just like real life
genghisdon: hello
corum: Flynn mutter under his breath "he he, and here's your dresses, covered in mud"
chris107: Hi
chris107: Opa - 'I did try to brush them
genghisdon: "we also recovered your silver wares, and such"
smon: Dame Gertrude rolls her eyes more when she sees the state of her own dresses, looking quite faint.
Goonergeezer: garrick: during the conversation i will keep on making long meaningful eye-contact with tabitha
smon: Gertrude: "You silly elf! That crude stuff is not *our* silverware!"
genghisdon: Morganna supresses a smirk
genghisdon: "oh? whoose is it then?'
Kjato Ragfoot: That belongs to those merchants Rapahel talked about.
smon: Gertrude: "How would I know?! Ask the coachman!" Winifred rings a bell.
genghisdon: "i see"
chris107: The vapid and empty headed look usually worn by Opa-Loka dissapears upon hearing the fat bat's insult to her chum Morganna
genghisdon: Morganna in elven "worry not dearie"
corum: Flynn imagines choking lord snooty with his silly moustache
chris107: @ Morganna - in Elvish 'Stupid Elf?'
Kjato Ragfoot: Duvader looks rather confused.
smon: Madam Winifred looks a little concerned. "Sister, Tabitha, Princess Aole, come with me. We shall get Aole suitably bathed and dressed, and the dresses sent for emergency cleaning."
genghisdon: "silly, and maybe i was, still leave the harpy be"
genghisdon: I drink some tea
chris107: Opa @ Morganna (In Elvis still) For now....
smon: Gertrude seems to calm at her sister's words. "Yes, of course..."
genghisdon: "so Milord, any other outstanding troubles besides lord ollie in this fine city?"
smon: Winifred escorts the three other women from the room, leaving you with just Sir Hawkes.
smon: Hawkes: "Lord Ollie, he's high born, actually, Very bad do.. Other troubles? Yes, of course!"
smon: He swigs some tea. "Seems like there's nothing but trouble in this city!"
20d6 Has entered the room
genghisdon: "oh really, please do tell?" batts eyes
genghisdon: hi
20d6: hey
chris107: Hey
smon: "Place is full of wretched Thieves and villains!"
smon: He looks at you shrewdly. "Where you lot from, by the bye?"
genghisdon: "truly? i assume there are those that wish property returned then, and these miscreants caught?"
genghisdon: " We are from various places, myself from the north" (if that is true)
20d6 Has exited the room
Kjato Ragfoot: Duvader: I am from Lynxhill.
Goonergeezer: garrick @ hawkes "i move around a lot so have no home town"
smon: "Aye. The Sheriff has roster of outlaws like Ollie, with prices on their heads. Worse are the ones we *don't* know off, though."
chris107: Opa - The Wychwood.
genghisdon: yes, the Wytchwood
smon: "Wychwood, eh? Strange place I hear. Centaurs and stuff. You know there's werewolf trouble up round Hawfair Green?"
Portillo Has exited the room
chris107: Opa - Shivers and pales at this news...
genghisdon: "indeed? mayhaps we shall investigate that one day"
smon: "Then there's news from the north, up the Urt. The Northmen are gathering for war- we'll likely see a raid before summer's out."
genghisdon: "surely your stout guardsmen shall beat them back"
smon: "But the worst thing is that damn Marquis of Talworth and his Wizard, Uvoll Darktarn they call him..."
chris107: Opa @ Hawkes - And we here terrible rumor of a place known as 'the mouthes of madness'
genghisdon: "oh?"
Kjato Ragfoot: Duvader: Didn't Olli mention those too?
smon: "Guardsmen? Oh, yes. The Northmen won't breach our walls. They'll likely burn a few hamlets, though."
smon: /roll 1d6
smon rolls 1d6 and gets: 1,
smon: "Mouths o Madness? That's something to do with yon Castle Xagyg, right?"
chris107: Opa @ Duv -'He did'
Kjato Ragfoot: Perhaps we should have a little chat with this Marquis and his evil wizard. I dislike evil wizards.
smon: Hawkes: "Where was I... oh yes, Darktarn! Foul fellow!"
smon: Hawkes nods to Duvader. "You and me both, sirrah! Maid! More tea!"
chris107: Opa @ All 'Some thing about a Purple Tower?
smon: A shapely and rather scantily clad maid hurries in to pour you all more tea.
corum: ((this is all getting a bit phallic)
Kjato Ragfoot: ((Smon somehow dislikes dressed female NPC))
smon: Hawkes: "Purple tower! Yes, that's the wizard's lair, where he plots his schemes!"
smon: (The 3 noble ladies were fully clad)
genghisdon: "oh? and where is this tower?"
genghisdon: (scantily clad ladies are welcome!)
smon: "In Dradville, 30 miles or so down Purple Tower Road."
genghisdon: "thanks"
smon: "Their slavers raid our roads and hamlets, their agents spy on us..."
genghisdon: "it seems our adventuring group has come to the place we are needed"
smon: Hawkes drinks more tea. "Look out fer Easterlings, they're the worst! All in league with Darktarn!"
genghisdon: "would your lordship care to sponser us in these times of peril?"
smon: Hawkes nods. "Aye, this is a great place for adventurers of good character to make a name for themselves."
genghisdon: "we killed one of the easterlings with lord ollie"
smon: Hawkes nods. "Exactly! Easterlings, Highwaymen, Slavers, Spies and Assassins! Keeping Yggsburgh safe is a full time job for anyone! But I do my part... What's that you say about sponsorship?"
smon: You hear a cry from upstairs, Dame Gertrude's voice: "A slave brand! Branded like a common whore!"
genghisdon: "a man of your status & power could earn yet more honor aiding us in our coming battles with these miscreants"
chris107: Opa @ Hawkes 'Why we could scour the land to enhance your families honour'
genghisdon: (ruh ro)
smon: Hawkes perrks an ear to the goings-on upstairs, then nods to Morganna.
chris107: Opa (in Elvish) 'She goes too far!'
smon: "Yes... So, yon 'princess' is a branded slave, eh? Lord Ollie's doing?"
genghisdon: "Perhaps we should check on the ladies?"
genghisdon: "no doubt, he had not a chivalrous bone in him!"
smon: Hawkes wipes his moustache: "If you don't mind, I'd prefer you stayed down here. My sister in law is a mite histrionic."
genghisdon: "as you wish, milord"
chris107: Opa @ Group, 'Perhaps to this Purple Tower then?'
smon: Ollie nods. "The slavers take their captives east to Talworth, then points east."
chris107: @It would seem evil has taken root there'
Kjato Ragfoot: Duvader I think we should attack those slavers first. I doubt that we get into the Purple Tower easily without gathering intelligence first.
smon: Hawkes: "Certainly has. But Darktarn has power to destroy a company of soldiers. A direct assault would get you all killed."
genghisdon: Morganna @ group : the purple tower seems a mite strong for now, perhaps the castle zagyg for a bit first?
corum: Flynn "perhaps, but we know little about this wizard, I would like some measure of the man I face before time"
chris107: Opa @ Group, 'Sorry my hatred of evil can make my a little rash at times'
genghisdon: "we could also purchase siver weapons & hunt a werewolf"
smon: You hear running on the stairs, then Aole runs back into the morning room, this time dressed only in a bath-towel!
genghisdon: "Aole dear, what is wrong?"
Kjato Ragfoot: Hunting a werwolf does not gain money.
smon: Hawkes grins, tweaking his moustache: "I say!" Aole: "Forgive me, I would like to go now!"
chris107: 'Only disease!'
genghisdon: (it might if we have a patron)
chris107: (I like the idea, lots of silver arrows)
genghisdon: "As you wish Aole, we shall head to a dress makers"
chris107: @Or an armourer dear. Your choice'
smon: Hawkes: "Calm yourself, Princess. I apologise for Dame Gertrude's rudeness." Aole ignores him and nods to Morganna.
genghisdon: "by your leave milord?"
Kjato Ragfoot: Duvader I think we should buy her both dresses and armour.
Loyd72 Has entered the room
genghisdon: hi
corum: Flynn: I have no wish to return to Wychwood just yet, perhaps outlaw hunting is our best bet
Loyd72: hello everyone
chris107: Hello
smon: Hawkes nods to Morganna. "Yes... do report back here. I'll be very interested to see how you get along. You may use my name when on business... but don't do anything I wouldn't do, eh?!"
genghisdon: " I shall not, of course" give him a wink
smon: /roll 1d100+5
genghisdon: "fare well for now, lord Hawkes"
smon rolls 1d100+5 and gets: 71, (+5) = 76
smon: Hawkes grins back at Morganna, then turns to Aole. "Better leave that towel."
Kjato Ragfoot: Duvader: Might you recommend us a good tailor?
chris107: Opa @ group 'I would feel happier ecploring with our friend Corrak along'
chris107: exploring
genghisdon: (is he missing?)
Loyd72 Has exited the room
chris107: Yup
Kjato Ragfoot: Duvader offers Aole a blanket as replacement for the towle.
genghisdon: (well, we have Aole for now)
genghisdon: (not much else we can do, till he shows)
corum: ( I think he went to the chuch whilst we ran errands)
chris107: (lets hope he returns soon 6/10HP is not good
genghisdon: Morganna @ group " shall some of us return to harvest heads while the rest help get Aole equiped?"
smon: Aole drops her towel, giving Hawkes cause to look very pleased a moment before she wraps the towel around her and secures it.
Goonergeezer: garrick: and find out where to return this silverware
genghisdon: yes
corum: Flynn: So enough of these "tea parties" where next, my arrows grow restless
smon: Hawkes: "The finest Haberdasher is Albert Rasch, corner of Citadel and Company."
chris107: Opa - Any markings on it? And that means the good stuff's still out there...
genghisdon: "
Kjato Ragfoot: First of all, to the Inn Raphael mentioned to get rid of the silverware.
genghisdon: thank you
smon: (Rufus the coach man said return silverware to him at Outs Inn)
genghisdon: no we need some clothes for Aoel
Kjato Ragfoot: If you do not mind, I will go to Albert Rasch with Aole to get her a dress.
genghisdon: armor, ect can wait, but not clothes
smon: brb, need to get boy to bed!
genghisdon: that would be great Duvadier
chris107: Opa - Hands over 20GP to the Princess - For you...
corum: Flynn will escort the gnome
genghisdon: If we all pony up 20 gp we can get her banded, wood shield & a mace
Kjato Ragfoot: Duvader @ Flynn YOu are welcome.
chris107: Works for me Don
Kjato Ragfoot: Duvader @ All I will pay for clothes and equipement.

corum: Flynn @ Duvader "just keeping an eye out for you"
Goonergeezer: garrick @ party " For the love of god, even i dont have banded
genghisdon: any one else think equiping Aole is worthwile?
genghisdon: then buy some with her, tommorow
chris107: Opa @ Garrick 'But your so big and strong Garrick'
genghisdon: is 90 gp
corum: ((easier than trying to protect her in a fight))
chris107: And she's our only healer until Corak gets back
Goonergeezer: garrick: " i'll give what i can after i have ordered myself new armour, thats the best i can offer
genghisdon: we will have the coin, banded for all, I say
genghisdon: fine
chris107: Who's got the elfin chain then?
corum: ((dont go overboard though, just lower her AC to a reasonable level))
smon: ok
genghisdon: just get clothes for today then
Kjato Ragfoot: Garrick, I think?
corum: Flynn, strokes his nice new elvin chain shirt
genghisdon: reasonable is 3
corum: 3??
Goonergeezer: garrick: OOC not me
genghisdon: tis silly to waste gp on crappy armor u will toss the following game
corum: Me and Garrick are 5

Goonergeezer: i should have enough once we have got all the rewards
chris107: OOC I got a feeling Lord Ollie will have 'walked'

corum: clothes etc
Kjato Ragfoot: I can give 40.
smon: Hawkes escorts you to the door. You see young Tabitha come back downstairs. She smiles warmly at Garrick, then turns to Sir Ulrich.
genghisdon: "farewell Tabitha, enjoy the dance!"
Goonergeezer: garrick @ ulrich " where is a good armourer in town we need to equip ourselves sir"
smon: Tabitha: "Uncle Ulrich, aunt Winifred is staying upstairs to comfort aunt Gertrude, who is upset. She asked me to go say goodbye to these brave adventurers who saved our dresses."
chris107: Opa @ Tabitha 'Yes have a super time'
jamabarn Has entered the room
Goonergeezer: garrick: in a whisper to tabitha " i must see you again my sweet, when and where can we meet?"
genghisdon: hi jama
smon: Hawkes: "Elite Arms and Armour is best - just turn left on Grand, can't miss it"
chris107: Evening Jamabarn
jamabarn: Genghis. Hello!
jamabarn: Hey Chris

smon: Tabitha smiles to Opa & Morganna. "Thank you both, you're very kind. I'm sure it will be lovely." As she does so she surreptitiously passes a note to Garrick.
genghisdon: sly
smon: (yes please put your PC names in every post)
smon: Tabitha gives Garrick a smile, then waves goodbye.
genghisdon: Morganna "shall we return these goods?"
Kjato Ragfoot: Duvader Yes, carrying silverwares around is a little annoying.
genghisdon: I have to go
smon: GM: Heading back down Scrivner Street past the schools on your right, mansions to left, you reach Grand Avenue.
jamabarn Has exited the room

  1. When Garrick gets a moment, he opens the note from Tabitha:

"Meet me by the City Wall at Midnight! - TK"

The Yggsburgh city wall runs just west of Sir Hawkes' mansion, at the west end of Scrivner Street - see map: http://smonsyggsburgh.blogspot.com/2011/12/yggsburgh.html

  2. i will accompany Aole and whoever to get us both some new armour (Banded for me) and a large shield. If nothing else should happen throughout the day then on to the public baths (if they have one) and get myself all spruced up and ready for a midnight clandestine meeting

  3. GM: Turning left you head up Grand Avenue, passing a guards patrol, with a nice city park to your right. Passing Money Street with the Chatterly villa to your right, you reach the imposing Elite Arms and Armour at the corner of Grand and Central.

Inside you are greeted cordially, and may purchase arms & armour of the better sort (the following) at these prices:

    Armour:
    Plate 400gp
    Banded 90gp
    Splinted 80gp
    Chain 75gp
    Shield, large 15gp
    Shield, medium 10gp
    Shield, small 5gp

You may purchase all PHB weapons on pg 35 at PHB listed prices.

If Opa & Morganna each chip in 50gp, Aole can be outfitted with banded mail and medium shield for 100gp total. As predicted the armourers take some delight in fitting the nude princess with armour suitable to her curvaceous figure, but sadly no discount is forthcoming. The banded armour includes a padded undershirt.

  4. Asking directions for Albert Rasch the Haberdasher, you are sent south a good distance down Central Street, over half a mile, then right at Citadel Avenue. It is around 1.30pm when you reach a large and very fancy clothes store with front show rooms and a coffee & tea bar. The sign shows a noble gentleman doffing a plumed hat.

The sales staff seem initially rather frosty towards your rough demenanour, but if you flash some gold you may purchase:

A ladies' gown, stockings and shoes suitable for society 'day' wear: 14gp.
Ladies' ball gown & acoutrements suitable for grand occaions: 25gp
Gentleman's day outfit (blouson, trews, boots): 8gp
Gentleman's evening dress, suitable for grand occasions: 15gp

Of course, as the haberdashers explain, a lady should also have suitable jewelry in addition, whether simple silver for day wear, or gold and gems for the Grand Ball.

  5. At the haberdashers' Garrick enquires about a public bath house:

"Why, yes - those in the north town are little better than brothels, but for respectable folk such as yourself, you'll want Sandal's Bathhouse, it's on this same block, just down Company Street, corner with Zodiac Alley. The sexes are kept strictly segregated, ensuring no hanky-panky!"

The nearby bath house appears just as described, with separate male and female entrances, and a charge of 2 s.p. per person (about £10).

    ReplyDelete
  6. Banded mail & large shield bout from Elite arms & armour, Gentlemans day outfit bought from Albert rasch haberdashers and a bath.

Total 113 gp and 2 sp spent and deducted from character

    ReplyDelete
  7. Duvader plans:
    >>1) Dress and equip Aole. <<

GM: Duvader spends 14gp at the haberdasher for a 'day' gown for Aole, and she asks him to buy her a wooden holy symbol (cross) from a street vendor for 7sp, total 14gp 7sp. She's not trained to use weapons.

After finishing shopping while Garrick takes a bath nearby, you head east, passing through market plaza where five sets of scaffolds are being erected, and a town crier is announcing:

"Oyez! Oyez! The outlaw Lord Ollie and his band to be Hung from the Neck until Dead! To occur at Dusk tonight!"

    >>I propose the following action for next session: We should ambush a supply caravan for this evil wizard or the evil marquis. That way, we would earn money and fight that guys. We should be able to figure out more about their organisation in Duvlik, at least Lord Ollie mentioned that as their base of operations.<<

Also, in the Market Plaza, you notice a caravan of three wagons is being made ready, though no horses or goods loaded yet. Enquiring of locals you're told that the merchant Frank Zeigler is taking a caravan to Dradville tomorrow, goods for the Lord of the Purple Tower, and he is hiring men-at-arms for the journey.

    >>2) Return the silverware. It is to clunky to carry around and being on good terms with local merchants is always helpful.<<

GM: Passing through market plaza and east down Citadel Avenue you can exit Yggsburgh for The Outs, where lies the Outs Inn; hopefully Rufus will be there - I'll do that tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Just a few notes for tonight's game...

    1) Should we stand discreet watch for possible rescuers for Lord Ollie & Co?
    2) When does the caravan leave? Should we sign on or plan an ambush?
    3) Should we split up to deliver the silver/keep watch on the execution?

    Opa-Loka
